borich
I'm at my brother in law farm and my sister and future wife and talking weddings so o decide to take a wonder on the farm and come across brother in law dad repairing a pole barn. I get chatting and end up on the roof for 3 hours helping fix it. We get chatting on the subject of rabbits and he tells me he is overrun and there is no one regularly shooting them. I offer to come over with my air gun and he asks me if I have a rim fire which I told him no. He then states bring over the form for it and he will sign it. So on my first trip to a farm I walked away with permission to use shotgun and a air gun and going to send off my FAC license as well! Lord Geordie
A very nice outcome! Your willingness to pitch in and help repair the Barn would have helped no end. Often offering a littke help when needed can reap great reward. Well done. Enjoy your Permission.

Alpha Mule
Jeez! About the only way that one will get any better is if he offers to buy you the guns and pay for your transport. Right time, right place and grafting for 3 hours probably helped a bit too ;0)
borich
Its pretty good as farm is only 15 mins from my parents so got somewhere to crash and I got enough land to make a good weekend of shooting out of it.
welshwarrior
Borich glad you've had some luck. I know the feeling I'd been struggling until yesterday when I got home from dog training I'd taken a gun when the guy who walks around our patch selling free range eggs came over asked if I shoot foxes. I say yes he says well if you want come to my farm I'm over run with rabbits and need the foxes shot ill give you a dozen eggs per fox you shoot. hedge
Problem is I live in Kent and all this lands in Cornwall. LOL. I was very impressed until you said that! Sounds like a great weekend away if you can get a couple of friends to go with you. Well done though - just goes to show what a little investment of your time will get. You don't ask you don't get! Well done.
borich
It just goes to show that there's still land out there to be had. Now all I gotta do is find land in Kent
FOXHUNTER1
Congratulations on your permission however I feel the farmer still wont have anyone regularly controlling the rabbits. Bit of a hike from Kent to Cornwall...........
borich
He's managed 43 years with none shooting rabbits regularly but with me hitting it every 6 to 8 weeks I'll at least dent them!
