Frenchieboy
Over the last couple of months I have noticed a distinct lack of rabbits in areas where I would normally have sen a fair few. I have even been out with the lamp to check and even had a bit of a walk about in the snow to check for rabbit tracks - There are a few rabbit tracks but nowhere near the numbers I would normally expect to find! There are no signs of any dead and diseased rabbits about and even a few of the burrows that are normally quite active seen to be deserted or showing very little use/activity now. As I have said this is a bit of a puzzler as I have found no signs of diseased or dead rabbits and the fox population is only minimal. I am also very confident that no-one has been on the permissions ferretting or dogging for them or they would almost certainly have been seen by the farmers! ollie
I have noticed there are fewer rabbits about this Winter. I haven't shot as many out rough shooting than I normally would have. Hopefully they pick up coming into Spring and Summer so that I can get at them with the .22lr.

Gimlet
I've got very few on my ground. Very little sign, hardly any dung or scratchings, no busy burrows. We had mixy in March but there were still a reasonable number afterwards. Its been a very odd year. The harvest was so late with the weather, it was nearly October before the wheat came off. Normally the stubbles are alive as our farm is entirely arable and from June onwards there's no open space, so when the crops do came off the rabbits can't resist enjoying the space. This year there was little or nothing. We may have had VHD but I don't think so, unless it was very localised. I suspect many migrated before harvest, and I'll eat my hat if they don't come back mob handed probably around February time. Its a pity as my ferrets saw almost no action last year as it was so mild the rabbits bred right through the winter. This year its colder and I'm struggling to find any rabbits for them. Uncle Albert
I shoot on a golf course and we have been hit badly by myxie this year, what with all the rain . Still, rabbits being what they are, they will recover fairly quickly. It's just my freezer is starting to look a bit empty at the moment. stubby
went out a few days ago, walked around 5 fields and drove across 8, plenty of signs, fresh scrapes and new droppings, but not one single rabbit sighted, which is very strange
Greenhunter
Not been out for ages as all my shooting areas have myxie! The odd thing is they are all miles apart so I stopped going in case I was spreading it. There had been loads earlier in the year and I had several good nights, even getting 50 off three fields over a couple of nights. GH
monster1971
The very wet summer has kept them underground more so mixy has spread like wild fire ,the bunnies are more than likely dead underground ,they will recover but you will not see many for a while .seen it before long wet summer =less bunnies

Alanl50
Its Funny its the same for me, Im not seeing as many as I normally do for the time of year I have put it down to the rain, I usually take a 410g with me when I go to feed the pheasants to knock the rabbits off in the game cover but dont anymore because I rarely see one now but they are about just not the quantities and I noticed myxomatosis in a couple of areas so thats not helping.
