CharlieT
I must ask my FEO to add game birds to my conditions. I really do enjoy such sporting challenges.
Blackpowder
Depends on the weather and how damaged the intestines are from shooting. Head shot a week at zero deg no problem. Shot up the whotsit warm muggy weather rotten in three days. Blackpowder

al4x
game on the ground, ground game its a popular misconception what the phrase covers, I bet whoever wrote the definition never quite thought there would be a different northern interpretation. fenboy
Ground game on mine I think your interpretation of ground game could be a little off , I think you may have just told everyone you have breached your FAC conditions. By the way I dont give a hoot if you shot it on the ground or not enjoy it but stay legal !
pigeonblasterian
Shooting a pheasant on the floor is not illegal.Unless it is on a Sunday.
twitchynik
I don't hang them longer than a day or night. Breasted and legged the next morning. As said above, why would you want to eat something that's had its internals haemorrhaged and left hanging for it to pollute the meat. Plenty of natural flavour without the need to hang. With a rifle with the conditions of ground game it's certainly a case of breaking his conditions

pigeonblasterian
Does it say anywhere in the FAC conditions that pheasants cannot be shot with a rifle. The FAC conditions are vague in a lot of areas.

In this weather, assuming you would hang it in garage or similar anything up to a week would not be too long (as it's head shot and it's cold out there). Weather due to possibly warm up at end of week so you might want to pluck and draw it after 3 or 4 days. As already said it would be different if gut shot and the weather was warm and muggy when many people would prefer it not being hung for more than 1 or 2 days as they go pretty ripe very quickly then! If it was a safe shot and you had the right to shoot whats the harm? Blackpowder Edited December 11, 2012 by Blackpowder
