I had a nice big roast so decided to walk it off on one of my permissions and this chap made the mistake of stopping in front of the HW100, he fell at 18 yds to an AA diabolo .22. When I got home and opened the presents I was happy to see santa had brought me what I asked for!!

It is not illegal for grey squirrels. From the BASC link above:

"England and Wales

No game may be killed or taken in any county on Sunday or Christmas Day. Game for the purposes of this section means pheasant, partridge, red grouse, black grouse and hare."

Who the **** are you to tell someone when they can or can't shoot :hmm:

There's no law against taking vermin and if someone wants to spend their holiday shooting squirrels then good luck to them :good:

My names Mark, i live in Nottingham, have been shooting for nearly 20 years and respect the quarry i shoot and the rules (and unwritten rules) which govern our sport and keep us the right side of the law and the right side of the un-knowing public. Thats who i am mate so you can go and **** yourself!

There are no restrictions on shooting grey squirrels on a Sunday or Christmas day. See the BASC link above for the species which it applies to. Grey squirrels are not on the list.

Shooting grey squirrels on Sunday or Christmas is perfectly legal. Whether you choose to shoot them on Sunday or not is a matter of personal choice.

I realise it's not illegal but there are things that just ARENT done as a matter of course! i dont know a single person, gamekeepers included who would go out on xmas day! its called 'tradition' and we're losing it bit by bit, day by day!!!

Just because you believe something should not be done there is no need to berate someone who is acting legally and lawfully

i don't shoot on christmas day myself, but i don't think its anyone else's business if someone wants to shoot legally on christmas day.so well done for a well shot squirrel.and its no good saying "have a word with yourself!" because its obvious that if he thought it was un-sportsman like he wouldn't have shot it in the first place.

Wouldnt shoot on Xmas day myself, but dont see anything wrong with anyone choosing to do so if its all legal.Well done on the squirrel fella.

Same here loon :good: but diplomatic imunity alows it

There are no statutory restrictions on the killing of game on Sunday or Christmas Day but it is not customary to do so. The wildfowl species listed may not be shot on Sunday or Christmas Day.

How very dare people break that very important great old tradition of watching the Eastenders omnibus whilst gorging on Dairymilk by doing something more to their liking on their day off :hmm:

I hope all those who think it bad form spent the morning in church as that was the real reason for traditionally not shooting on xmas day.

Traditionally Christmas day was the day you got married as it was a rare day off for most - old traditions disappear and New ones are created all the time, it's no big deal and not worth getting worked up about. I heard a couple of shotguns this morning and it didn't bother me in the slightest as there are many folk that don't celebrate Christmas or have no family to be with.
