Scottoj18
Got a renewal for my car insurance today. I'm 23 had my licences 3 years and two years no clames. I have a Volvo c30 1.6 d2. My renewal is £1102.73 for 10 months and £1000 excess! So I had a look on money supermarket to see if i could get better. put all my details in the same as my renewal With the exception of changing 10 to 12 months, and reducing my excess to £500. My lowest price £670 from the same company I'm with now!! So I called them up the guy on the phone was a friendly chap. He was confused why the price was so high and couldn't give me an answer why. He reduced my renewal price with out any fuss. A saving of £423 just by a phone call. How do they get away with this!

Sha Bu Le
Yup find the same every year, I don't bother arguing just shop around each year and find an acceptable quote. This after more years driving than some PW'ers have been on the planet. Plus more years no claims than I can remember. Tried the over 50's specialists, they are lying gypsies...........more expensive than anyone else. I call it the ASDA syndrome.......tell people often enough and long enough what a good job your doing for them and eventually they'll believe you. Not this little black duck. they are dithspicable
steve_b_wales
I checked a comparison website recently for car insurance. The cheapest was from LV, which is my current insurer. They then sent me a renewal quote which was £29 dearer than the quote via the comparison site. When I asked them to match that quote, they said that they could'nt, even though they paid commission to the site. So, I'm staying with LV, keeping the same level of cover as last year, but will pay £29 less!
tigger
Yeah had exactly the same thing and I got cheaper insurance with the same company but with more addons its insane, the thing is what they pray on is people who just say stuff it and just renew it without evening bothering to check elsewhere we've all done it I certainly have many times infact until these price comparison sites turned up anyway, but the elderly and vulnerable will just pay it because they don't no about these things there just taking advantage of those who don't no any better scumbags
Cranfield
How do they get away with this! Because too many people just pay the increased premium.
lxtav
Just had mine in and I've been with the same company (Elephant) for several years and they are always cheaper than the comparison sites as I check every year. In fact for the past 4 years it has been getting less every year and it's now under £300 quid for my rodeo

unapalomablanca
Its just capitalism as i keep saying. Dont be offended by it, just shop around. Car insurance is actually good value, i bet most people on here pay a max of a quid a day. That covers you for any catastrophe. Sky tv with all the channels is double that and its 60% adverts. I would begrudge paying that, but i dont begrudge car insurance.
simjakcal
i allways shop around each year on the comparison site's....it also brings your premuim down if you add addition drivers ! mix un match your options on there youll be suprised ! Chris Bb
Blame the ambulance chasing legal profession. Every accident now includes "compo" for whiplash & other non proveable medical complications. That and the number of uninsureds involved in accidents that the insurance companies have to cover. Licensed bandits they may be, philanthropic societies they're not!

It's just the out right robbery and if I wish to spread the payment over 12 months they add 23.2% interest .. Why interest ? if I have an accident I pay the first £500 .. Just another way to make money!!

Cannon
I got my renewal quote through the door for £830 and after 5 minutes on the phone the same provider was able to offer me the same cover for the reduced price of £670. £160 just like that. It's bad enough that it's a rip off in the first place, but to rub it in your face and be so obvious about it makes my blood boil.

Why do they lend me the money?. If I won't 12 months cover why can't i pay it as I use it, I don't pay interest on my rent.. I'm in for 12 months and I pay a month up front then month by month.. Footu
Something was brought to my attention on this topic. If comparing On net and you leave page then go back often the quote is higher. Especially with air tickets or home insurance. They check your cookies and see if you are returning then up the price. Delete you cookies and start again to get original quote back! Edited January 12, 2013 by Footu
