I went this morning lots of pigeon on the field, got set up and 10 mins later a woman with 3 dogs walked down the field ( she had a white coat on and there is no foot path ) she then walked round several fields pushing all the birds away.20 mins later a bloke with a white german shepard walked up to us and then turned back and then the farmer turned up to roll the barley so there was no point in staying.

Went out and did the recce like you're meant to, kept moving and went for a wander, very few about.

I decided to move back towards home and found them feeding on fresh drillings at the very end of the village.

Set up and had some sport for a while, plan to go back tomorrow with my son.

Packed up as the rain started!

I went out today. this morning I set up in a likely spot but little decoyed and I ended up hitting virtually everything that came within range using my Hushpower O/U. Only got 5 but they were impressive shots for this gun :good:

Had some lunch at home then went back out to another little place that was heaving with birds but they didn't hang around for long but having set up then moved because the wind was just wrong I managed to pick of a few stragglers as they worked there way around the drillings and ended up wet but with a further 16 birds in the bag. again some impressive kills for the Husher and my homeloads.

Despite there being a lot about they just wouldn't decoy in the same way they did last week when I got 58 in pretty much the same spot, though maybe that's why ???

Now the freezer is chocka and I'm waiting for the game dealer to collect

yes was a good enjoyable day for me cheers craig, 58 carts for 24 birds. as for the magnets and flappers im not to sure about them are the birds getting used to them. ive only had 20 plastic shells and a floater and it has been working a treat, maybe the spring sticks giving the shells the movement more natural???. the weather was sunny and warm with bit of wind i even got the coat off for the first time this year. i think it was spring oats drillings that i was shooting over. cheers

Had what I thought was a big day coming on sewn beans but had to cry of to play cricket. Set 2 pals up on the field but the birds would just not decoy. They ended up with 28 when I thought it was a banker 100+. They tried all ways to bring them in but the birds may be a bit decoy shy as there has been a lot shot in the area this week.

Wild birds you just can't put your house on. That's why we love the sport.

Firstly good for you in sending someone else to shoot. Not many would do that.

Secondly you are spot on about the unreliability of the sport and it is in a perverse way why we do it.

Out on barley this morning with my bro-in-law, I had one shot, got one pigeon, he had four shots at two pigeons and missed both. We then packed up, as there were hardly any about, and the wind was blowing the dust off the fields like a desert sand-storm, getting in our eyes and blinding us. A crows nest blew out of a tree above our heads and crashed down right next to us.

Mike.
