Pinkella
I have just been to my local newsagent, I purchased some gum and snappy crisps and some water. The guy totalled up the amount on the till and then just stared at me with his hand out. I asked him how much and he reluctantly pointed to the till where the total of my purchases were! I paid him and nothing came out of his mouth, not even a mutter of a thank you. I must be getting mellow in my late thirties! because there was a time I would of asked for a refund and never gone back. But I would be cutting my nose off to spite my face. I'm sure you can relate to my woes

BRNDL
I used to visit my local corner shop where I experienced the same service, without fail. If it wasn't for convenience these places would be closed. Maybe he does not speak English. Maybe he does?

Dave-G
Wonder if he might have forgot his dentures - or bad breath perhaps and was possibly not wanting to put you off - so to speak. See what I did there?
ayano3
Good till manners...I would have accidentally dropped the correct amount of loose change on the counter and watched it roll everywhere on my way out...oh sorry, I dropped that but its all present and correct. Big Marty
Oh this is one of my pet hates I usually just stand Money in hand to they speak. Nothing as bad mannered as totally ignoring someone standing in front of you. 👺👺👺
Will Poon
Absolutely right manners cost nothing , there's some very grumpy people out there serving the public you wonder how they have a job in the first place

Ralphster
Went in local pub the other day, beer for me of course and large white wine for the lady of course lol, when the barmen put the drinks on the bar I said 'is that a large'? He said yes, its by the measure! Another chap at the bar said are you sure? The barman wondered across and poured back in the measure, and yes he was wrong so he adjusted the measure accordingly and placed it on the bar, almost a third extra!! Thing was he didnt say a word!! Now, from my bar work days, I would have said sorry about that, bad day, mind on other things or generic polite excuse, but not a word!! How many other punters got short changed or short wined? Chr15j
Manors tend to cost a small fortune! But I agree manners are free
Malik
Manners cost nothing but manors do To be fair, I've had that type of service before. Slightly annoying when you say thank you at the end. Then think why did i even say thank you!
alexl
I remember when I was young, a similar thing happened to my mum. When the man held his hand out she just put the chocolate bar she intended to buy into it and walked out without a word. He seemed a little confused by it. She still does the same thing to this day. Used to be a small shop in the village down below me,the man that owned it used to bang your change on the counter, but there was a method in his rudeness as most of the time he short changed you. I think banging down the change was to distract you from the real crime...

pegasus bridge
Very common level of service in lots of small independent shops unfortunatley. The worst I know is a garage.
Pinkella
What were you wearing Pinkella? Maybe you left him "speachless" I was wearing my usual work attire of course, fishnet stockings with the tops on show and a denim bra! tasteful or just Coventry! I think who ever I was he would been the same, that's how it felt, like work is a necessary evil.

Uncle Albert
I totally agree, some shop assistants are pig ignorant these days. A newsagent where I buy my fags has a woman in it who is always on the phone. She doesn't even have the manners to put it down whilst she is serving. She will carry on her conversation whilst taking your money. It came to a head when I gave her the money in 2p's, 5p's, 20p's and 3 x 50p's. I then turned round and walked out. That soon stopped her call whilst she checked the money. I gave her a few well chosen words about her attitude and left. I now avoid going into that shop when she is serving.
