Andy75
Seasons greetings to you all, but not for this lovely lady : http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/firearmsban/#detail Nice to see she's the only who's signed it so far!
henry d
The details - We ask that the government ban all firearms. There is absolutely no need for anyone to own or have access to a gun. Our society is becoming increasingly violent and the availability of guns just encourages this violence. Gun smugglers should be given long jail terms. Sad puppy.

Lord Geordie
I have just created a Petition to STOP people banning "legally held" firearms for sporting purposes they have received the petition but lets see if they are 1 sided or wether they actually let the petition go live I am sick to the back teeth of sad individuals who have nothing better to do with their spare time that try and ruin it for the LEGAL and LAW ABIDING Shooters by seeking a carpet ban on Firearms. If even 1/2 of these people would attend a Clay shoot of Field target shoot they would most likely find it's not as bad as they are led to beleive and may EVEN enjoy taking part. It's as HD says a SAD PUPPY who assumes just because you use a Firearm your an Evil killer People make such assumptions without even taking the time to actually look into or study the subject they criticize and to make a snap judgement on an issue you know nothing about really gets my goat Ban all firearms? The Armed forces will have to charge with fixed Bayonets (sorry chaps we can't use firearms anymore) I need to go and take my medication now i have the furious shakes LG
SNAKEBITE
How many "incidents" are carried out using the sort of weapon we use in the pursuit of our sport? With exception of the "post office special" I have never heard of an incident using a .22 rimfire, .177HMR or anything like that. Most blaggers use pistols of military design don't they? These are already illegal to own so what is the big deal? We do not contribute at all to the gun crime of the U.K. so why don't they just clear off and leave us alone. pin
Last time I checked it was < 3% of recorded gun crime being committed with registered legally held firearms
al4x
the sad bit is the most common problem with legally held guns is when the owner comits suicide using them which sadly is all too common. Hence the reason any sign of depression and you don't get a ticket

Hence the reason any sign of depression and you don't get a ticket As long as they have a proper backstop then there should not be a problem. The only ones they are physically hurting are themselves. If they want to be selfish enough to hurt their families then so be it. Suicide should not cloud this issue.
il cacciatore
That site is full of stupid petitions like the one that wants complete ban of snares. http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Snares/ Lord Geordie, This one calls for the repeal of the Firearms act 1988 and its got 11 signatures http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Firearms/
pin
I think I will call for a ban on issue of breeding licences to idiots who think banning legally held firearms will do anything to reduce gun crime
Dunkield
The figure that is always quoted and may actually be a bit low now, is there has been a 40% increase in armed crime since the handgun ban - so that was a great move wasn't it? njc110381
I agree with one point in amongst the anti gun ****. Smugglers of illegal firearms should be given harsh jail terms, maybe if that was the case, crime figures could be reduced without shafting innocent sportsmen
il cacciatore
The point of the 1997 ban wasn't to stop criminals having handguns, or indeed the 1988 semi auto ban to stop criminals having semi autos. It was to stop law abiders from having them. Each firearms act was a response to legally held firearms of that type being used against other human beings of mind blowing magnitude in the atrocities of Hungerford and Dunblane. We shouldn't get confused that these firearms acts were to stop or reduce firearms crime. Reasoning of the government is, stopping law abiders from having these weapons would prevent other massacres of the same description by law abiders using these weapons. edit - Probably wont be popular for writing this but I feel that the other side of the argument should be put across. Personally a ban of any description goes against civil liberties and I certainly don't support these bans.

Does this "Sue Smart" actually sit there and think that if there's a blanket ban on guns that gun crime will disapear and all the nasty gun toting yardies/gangsters/triads/communists (delete as applicable) will stop using guns. What actually goes through her head. Does she believe that people having legal, safe access to a sporting gun impinges anyway on illegal gun crime? What a complete and utter moron. How do people like this survive everyday life.
pin
The main problem has been touched on, she doesn't need them in her life and has the mentality that because she can't see the need then nobody can need them. To me this is more about not living in the real world and being completely selfish. If I had to decide on a profile for "Sue Smart" I would say: 37 years old, single. Hurt badly by the only boyfriend she has ever had. Unattractive with mousey straight hair and a fringe. Probably has a bit of a tash going on. Probably has a few cats for company, probably reasonably well off, probably drives a toyota pryus or something like that. Bedroom probably has too much pink in it, probably a few teddies in there too. Guardian reader.

P03
Unfortunately Ms Smart is typical of the environmentally unenlightened, pseudo intelligentia that forms the majority of the electorate today. Just wait until LACS, PETA or Animal Aid find it....there'll be...oh hundreds of signatories then. Even more unfortunate is that 200 people signing that petition are likely to carry more credence with this Government than 15651 (currently) signing a petition to repeal the Hunting Act
