I took Dearly Beloved to Tescos today as usual but she suggested that she should choose the beers for me thsi time. I have to say that I was a little wary but when I saw what she had chosen I think I will let her do it more often.

Let's hope they taste as good as they look and sound!

Edit: Heck, it's taken two of the bottles ( The Old Crafty Hen and The Old Empire) before I realised that "The Other Half" might have been trying to tell me something with her choice of beers for me - The name of 3 out of the 4 all start with OLD!

I hadn't planned to have any bottles tonight but changed my mind after returning home from a very good night out with the lamp and the (Unmodified) .222! I only nailed one fox and that was only at a range of about 60 yards - Nothing special at all with that shot but one of the most satisfying shot that I have had for a long long time. What made it such a sitisfying shot was the fact that according to a Furry Friend Hugging neighbour who feeds the foxes next door to the permission I was shooting on tonight I am a "Nasty, evil, cold blooded, murdering Ba****rd that ought to be hung up my the tesitcles" (She said something else instead of testicles, I'll let you work that one out) And all because I shot a fox that was making it's way down to her garden so that she could feed it.

I will add that I took this line of action purposely with the intention of upsetting her as she tried to cause trouble for me with the police the other day while I was out shooting. Anyway, it's job done and I am extremely satisfied with my evenings work (It's a long time since I actually enjoyed being insulted like that) so I stopped on the way home and treated myself to 2 bottles of Bass No 1 Premium Pale Ale and 2 bottles of Theakstones Old Peculiar. And you know what, I'm going to thoroughly enjoy every single drop with a very satisfied smile on my face! :drinks::drinks::drinks:

Nice one! Frenchieboy.

Anyway coop have a good offer on at the moment, and the Corage directors bottled beer is lovely, the Marstons Old Empire as above is good, but the local Thomas Watkin brewary sell a "Cwrw Haf" (Summer beer) a bit late perhaps but lovely in front of the fire.

Cheers

Aled

Took the wife to Tescos for the week-ends shopping today and she left me to pick my beers out so i thought I would have a little change.

Tonight i have a bottle of Marstons Oyster Stout and a bottle of Hook Norton Double Stout (I do enjopy a good stout now and then) and for tomorrow I have a couple of bottles of Fullers Londin Pride!

I have to go near to the supermarket tomorrow to set a couple of cage traps for mink so I might even stop in and get a couple of bottles of "something nice" for Sunday.

p.s. Yes Aled, I am quite partial to a drop of Courage Directors now and then - I used to be able get it on draught, I'm not sure if that is still possible, it really was a great draught beer!

i have a question, if say you find a bottle of hobgoblin hiding in the conservatory that's been there since summer and has probably near boiled in the heat, would it be all right to drink still?

If you want my honest opinion - As long as it hadn't been opened then I would pop it in the fridge for a while and then gently pour and enjoy it! Mind you, I would much rather find a crate of bottles of Hobgoblin than just one bottle - Now that woukld be a real good find!:yes::yes:

Cheers! :drinks:

Well I've just tried a bottle of Fullers 1845. This beer is labeled as "Bottle conditioned ale matured to perfection for 100 days" and is 6.3% vol.

It's very rare that you will ever hear me saying that I didn't enjoy a beer but this really is one of those occasions. It is by far the least enjoyable beer out of the many dozens that I have tried over the last few weeks and one that I will certainly not want to be trying again.

All i can say is thank goodness that I have some Theakstons Old Peculiar and some Old Speckled Hen in reserve to take the taste of this Fullers 1845 away!
