Shooting on rememberance Sunday acceptable ? Thoughts gents?

Recommended Posts

Just been debating this with my shooting partner, what does everyone think? We are obviously going to observe 2 mins silence, I'm ok with it - what does everyone else think?

I'm off Ferreting.

As far as I see it, those brave chaps died so we could continue living our lives and enjoying our freedoms - and doing the opposite to remember the fact that we can, doesn't make much sense. (nor does that sentence, but you see what I mean)

2 minutes silence is the important part remembering the fallen ,who gave all so we have freedom.im from a lucky family both great grandads came back from the somme and grandad and his brothers came back from burma.to shoot is your own choice but to remember is all our obligation .just stop for 2 minutes and pause to remember those who never had this choice

surely you're remembering the people that died, not the fact that you're free?

I've never shot anywhere where they have not observed the silence. We even manage to observe the silence on the 11th in our school which are children 2 yrs to 7 yrs. They have been taught about the reasons the whole of this last week even at the very youngest age through stories and art etc. The Reception Year will attend a service at our local memorial on Monday representing us all and laying a wreath on our behalf.

Weather permitting i will be shooting on Remembrance Sunday but I will (And always do) stop and observe a 2 minutes of silence and reflection with my hat off and head bowed at the appropriate time!

So many gave so much so that we could be free. Observing 2 minutes of silence is the least that we can do to honour them!
