there are air guns out there far superior than some powder burners.

also there is actually no legal requirment in terms of power and calibre must just be humane

 

so yes its legal altho police firearms dept will stipulate there own minimum calibre with a fac rated rifle , so basically sub 12 is legal

Will a perfectly placed pellet, from a sub-12 air rifle, at a very close range, drop a fox ? Yes.

 

But ...

 

Let's put it this way. If I ever discovered that someone who shoots on my fields had done this, I'd kick them off instantly. It's not humane, it's not the correct tool for the job. It shows an absolute lack of responsibility.

Now, those are my opinions. I'm sure a few will disagree. Feel free.

 

Even in a cage trap (so end of barrel to fox head 1 foot or less, the absolute minimum is a .410 or a .22LR
