Wildfowler
What a superb gun! What load do you use, i assume black powder but what type and weight of shot? Also, what range were those three when they met with your load?
four bore
HI THE GUN WEIGHS JUST SHORT OF 19 LBS, TOTAL LENGTH IS 6 FOOT 2 INCH AND ITS A WESTLY RICHARDS MUZZLE LOADER. WHEN GOING TO WHERE I WANT TO SHOOT IT FROM, IT COMES TO PIECES AND PUT IT IN A RUCK SACK TYPE GUN BAG WHICH MAKE QUITE EASY TO CARRY.[ I HAVE MASTERED THE KNACK OF CARRYING IT AND ITS NOT BAD AT ALL ] THE LOAD I USED ON THOSE GREYS WAS 8 DRAMS OF MEDIUM POWDER AND THREE AND A HALF OZ OF BB,S, I WOULD OF SAID THAT THEY WERE ABOUT 50 - 55 YARDS ISH, THE WEATHER WAS VERY WINDY AND WET, WHICH MADE IT A BIT MORE DIFFICULT, BUT IT DID WHAT I WANTED...... Blackpowder
That is great stuff and a fantastic result with a historic gun. I can imaging with even just the barrel length it is not an easy weapon to load from the front end. Blackpowder
four bore
ITS NOT BAD AT ALL I HAVE SMALL CONTAINERS WITH THE RIGHT AMOUNTS OF SHOT AND POWDER IN, AND PLASTIC TUBES FOR THE CARDS AND WADS, AND A VERY LONG HOME SECTIONAL RAM ROD. NOT QUITE AS EASY AS PUTTING A CARTRIDGE IN, BUT YOU GET USED TO IT.........!

Paul taylor
Great gun very interesting. Wouldn't fancy shooting it with my puny body though.
islandgun
Amazing gun, do you find the size helps with swing?. what is the range and spread at full range?, It looks like it should be mounted on the back of a truck, I feel like a complete wimp worrying about the kick of a 10 bore, great to see it being used cheers
four bore
ONCE YOU GET THE GUN SWINGING ITS FINE, [ OVER LEAD HAS TO BE WATCHED WITH THE GUNS WEIGHT PULLING IT QUICKER THAN YOU WANT IT......! ] MOST OF THE RECOIL IS TAKEN UP BY THE WEIGHT OF THE GUN. IF YOU PUT THE FULL CHARGE IN 10 - 12 DRAMS, 4 - 5 OZS OF BIG SHOT IT WOULD DO THE JOB AT A GOOD RANGE..........!
islandgun
I'm guessing you pick your shots! also being careful where your shots eventually falls to ground, not sure I'd would want to be in the next hedge, cheers

Grandalf
What a superb gun! What load do you use, i assume black powder but what type and weight of shot? Also, what range were those three when they met with your load? You could get rid of the popgun you have just constructed for your punt and mount this instead! four bore
I SUPPOSE YOU COULD USE IT AS A SMALL PUNT GUN...........BUT ITS A LOT BETTER OF THE SHOULDER.........! VERY REWARDING WHEN YOU GET ONE OR TWO.
