JDog
Work finished for the day at 1pm so a trip out to find some pigeons was on the cards. Unless I have hours to watch and set up for decoying shooting a flightline is all that can be fitted in. At the second farm I called at there was a good line along a brook, over a small spinney and onto a small wood where I have seen them in the last few days. I took no kit except gun and cartridges and having used up all of the odds and **** I have purchased since running out of 'Superfasts' I now had new boxes of my favourite cartridges to start on. There is a theory that it doesn't really matter what 'normal' cartridges are used for pigeon shooting and to some extent I agree with that, but I certainly felt more comfortable with these cartridges having pole axed the first two pigeons I fired at. For a duffer I did quite well and the flight line was strong and in three hours I shot 38 and picked 37, the missing one having disappeared down a badger sett. I am now dashing to the vet with Jasper who ate some snails in the garden yesterday and he is far from well.
