aga man
Set out at 8am today to see if any pigeons were hitting the rape. i spotted a good number of birds on a farm which i have shot before but the Lady there can be a bit funny at times as there's a lot of horses on the farm. I therefore generally only ask when theres a good wind blowing away from the farm as it was today. She gave me the nod to i went home to sort some gear. The walk to the field was a couple of hundred yards so i only took two birds for the whirley and that was it for decoys. As i arrived at my spot the pigeons that had lifted were keen to be back on. I made my hide and put up the whirley 20 yds out and slightly up wind of my posistion. Almost immediatley the birds decoyed commiting very well, before i knew it i had 8 birds down for eight shots. This is going to be good i thought [or maybe not]. After shooting the eight birds i went out to tidy up and get some birds on cradles. As went to retreive the birds i left my gun in the hide empty[no shells]. I got my deads out on cradles and returned to the hide, instantly pigeons came in, i grabbed my gun, picked my bird and 'click' what a numpty empty gun. never mind i thought, re-loaded and the next bird arrived 'click'. this process repeated until it dawned on me i had broken my firing pin I changed my selector and just plugged away with one barrel trying to make each shot count. as you can imagine the chance for a left and right presented itself numerous times For the first time in a while the pigeons played ball nicely and i was gutted about the firing pin. i shot 35 during the afternoon and picked 32. i can only ponder what could have been with two working barrels. aga man
Thanks for all the comments it was very frustrating as birds were at times coming in 15 or 20 strong and commiting very well. I also had another three guns in the cabinet at home. on the plus side i saved a few shells and to be honest 30 was enough to carry back 200 yds. pigeon controller
Well done Aga man , I've had a similar situation with one of my guns but I always carry a spare. It's frustrating when you get the dreaded Click. You stuck at and made every single shot count and achieved a great bag.
JDog
I heard that a single shot was all that you ever needed anyway.

caeser
From what I can gather from your previous threads, thats your favourite gun isn't it. You'll have to get it to the menders quickly. Great day apart from that though. I had that happen to me with a Browning that was only 3 months old. Also had to have new firing pins. Only one had failed but they changed both under warranty. Bad batch they said.
