steveyg
Just chilling after sunday Lunch and thought I would review my year so far.. I have been out 15 times this year...and have averaged 13 per outing. 55% Pigeons This time last year I would have snatched your hand off for results like this.. Today had nine but had a couple of cracking shots which made it worthwhile For people with multiple perms and extensive pigeon experience..13 probably wouldn't be worth setting up for..or would it?? p@cman
To start with, I'd say that it's a result that you have a permission to shoot on; it's a good result if when you go out you have something to shoot at and an even better result that you are hitting more than you are missing
magman
A lot would depend on the time of year Winter rape 13 = yes worth it on summer fallen wheat- barley maybe not
Harnser
One of the attractions of pigeon shooting is that you don't know how many you will shoot untill the end of the day when you have finished . I have sat out for most of the day and only had a couple of shots at passers . I have also set up on a field that didn't. Show any promise and shot over a hundred . How will you know how many you are going to set up for unless you give it a try . Never be frightened to move to another field or across the other side of the field that you are shooting if you see birds dropping in . The late great Archie Coates would move if he hadn't shot a pigeon within twenty minutes , I will give it a bit longer than that before I move . Any how just being out is enough for me . thepasty
I went out for a couple of hours this morning on the crows, had twelve with plenty missed before we found our mark... thats a good shoot for us, I like being out with a bit of banter as much as the shooting. Redgum
I have never bothered much about the end count, sometimes its grey with pigeons and after one shot they get up and drift somewhere else, sometimes they don't but sitting in a hide with me sarnies, flask and larks singing in the sky is enough for me. Many a time me and a mate have spent a glorious afternoon catching up and putting the world to rights while pigeons trot about the decoys. welshwarrior
I like a days shooting even if that's just a day in the field and nothing coming in.

Eddie57
I like a days shooting even if that's just a day in the field and nothing coming in. +1 just happy being out there amongst it all...the birds in the bag are a bonus.
Davyo
If you enjoy yourself then thats a result.I think to many people read to much into big bags and expect the same, but get frustrated when it doesn't happen. It only takes that one cracking shot to make your day. OJW
Zero is a good day out, and 1+ is a bonus! My real problem is deciding when to pack up, because 9/10 when I leave early, just as I'm putting the stuff in the car the pigeons suddenly start coming in! Even if its been really quiet all day. I try and set a time and stick to it, if only it was that easy!

Salop Matt
Am currently in the local shopping centre with the Mrs at the make up counter. . . . I would rather be in a hide with no pigeons ! 18 is the biggest bag of wood pigeon I've ever had so 13 I would be ral pleased with.
GingerCat
I just like being out, 20 is plenty as I shoot for the pot but 100 isint too many. Have often set up for way less and still enjoyed myself.
