billytheghillie
Apart from traps, what is the best way to nail them? I tried to set a trap but the runs are shallow. Cheers
samboy
Catch them then bury them alive.

Old farrier
Hi billy Try and find a deeper part of tunnel with a probe proberably nearer the hedge and set your trap there if your using scissor traps try the other sort make sure no light can get into tunnel Would think you would struggle getting phostoxin and recommend proper safety equipment if you use it All the best Of
spandit
I'm told the noose type traps are more effective than the scissor
Mike737
I've caught 7 or 8 this year with noose traps, had no luck at all with the scissor type. They work ok on quite shallow runs. Find a run between two hills using a probe. Mike.
wymberley
Taking a wild guess here that the "noose" traps (really don't have a clue what these are though) are possibly Duffus traps. If so, that would explain why they work in these conditions as the Duffus will do the job perfectly.
Mike737
Yes, that's them. Mike.
spandit
Moles live under hedges etc. where the drip line keeps the ground moist. Find a tunnel between a mound and the boundary and set the trap there

Dekers
Hi billy Try and find a deeper part of tunnel with a probe proberably nearer the hedge and set your trap there if your using scissor traps try the other sort make sure no light can get into tunnel Would think you would struggle getting phostoxin and recommend proper safety equipment if you use it All the best Of Phostoxin and Talunex are officially only available to those fully certified to use it, if the runs are shallow it will be of little use and potentially dangerous as well. Get a professional in if you are struggling!
Goldfinger
Have you tried these mate they are very effective you just push them in tunnels then back fill hole no matter how deep they are and when finished setting you cannot tell they are there, ideal for sensitive areas were they is a risk of them being stolen, ideal on lawns were there are children,a bit pricey and you need two to catch mole coming from both directions, also good for trap shy moles they have not let me down yet. http://www.ratbait.co.uk/trapline-mole-trap-895-p.asp Edited July 27, 2014 by Goldfinger
