bazzab
Hi all. Having sold my HMR recently, I now only have LR. Have tried a couple of supersonic rounds down it and not found anything it likes. Could I ask people to list supersonics they use please? I know every rifle different etc. But help me build up sort of list thats available? Sincere thanks for your time.. Bazza.
steve_b_wales
Most supersonic/hypersonic .22LR bullets are not as accurate as sub sonics. I did find that Winchester Lasers, fired through my CZ 452 were about the best though.
dipper
Tried stingers in my anschulz xiv shot over a foot high then cci minimal they were good same as my sub sonics Dipper
rich1985
Think the ones I had were Remington yellow jackets, were good but group not fantastic.
Imperfection
Like Steve,Winchester Lasers are accurate. They come in a no frills black cardboard box,but not everywhere sells them. I find Stingers are ok in my CZ511 too.
BooBooEH
Stingers are good in my Anschutz as well... not a lot walks away once hit.
1066
I feel, if you're going to shoot HV ammo in the LR you would have been better to stick with the HMR. The real plus point of the .22LR is it's ability, when moderated and shooting subsonic ammo, to be almost silent.
sixhills 69
I use Remington yellow jackets or cci stingers butch kill at 100+yards they have a higher point of aim to a subsonic round so you will need to re zero your scope not the subsonic settings and you can dial it back to original zero. drut
CCi Velocitors as accurate as subs through my CZ452,RWS High velocity accurate through my BRNO 581.Neither rifle accurate with what suits the other.
bazzab
That's fantastic. Thank you very much everyone. Really appreciate that.
welshwarrior
If you want accurate 22 high velocity rounds get a WMR. I've tended to find when playing with them the gain the high velocity gives in range it takes away in accuracy. I had one expection to that a 10-22 that accurately grouped stinger at 100 yards about 1" but no other rifle I tried got close.
Alpha Mule
Have only tried Magtechs. They hit about an inch high at 50m. Reasonably consistent but the packaging is pants.
kent
cci velociters in mine but I cant see the point subs are so much better
Tollerman
Local gunsmith told me that the shortage of CCI .22 ammo was due to a container on its way to the UK that got lost in transit .

Bewsher500
what are you shooting and at what range? I use subs all day long out to 100-110 go further if I bothered to use a range finder they will group an inch or near enough at 100yds which is good enough for anything I shoot its rare that I need to stretch to that to be honest but 40-90yds is the norm I have a .17M2 as well though that is what the .22lr HV should have been! I chest shot a hare at around 110-115yds the other day and it just flopped sideways, where it stood. no exit, minimal damage shot a 3/4 sized bunny at similar range and pulled it slightly entering just rear of where it should similarly no exit, had to search for an entry! marvellous calibre! Rabbits etc. Range tends to be 40-70ish as a approx figure. Always nice to be able to have that extra wack if charlie appears. Thsts a interesting point you make, ive read a fair people use subs out to a fair old distance.
welshwarrior
40-70 that's well within subs range, just learn the drop of your rifle to get your hold points and you can extend that with some practise to 120 yards, but you'll need to practice with the rifle and ammo but also distance judging. Thsts a interesting point you make, ive read a fair people use subs out to a fair old distance. no need for more energy at that range I have lost count how many greedy foxes have caught a 40gr sub in the noggin for being nosey and coming in to a squeak! Also took one in the bib at about 65-70yds with a Win Sub. not advisable but well within its capabilities went about 15 yds. dead on his feet
Salop Matt
I tryed several hyper sonic rounds in the brief time I had my CZ452 .22lr and they were all terrible none would do an inch group past 40yards. ATB Matt

I'm not trying to be a smartypants or any such thing, but my question about your location was prompted by you saying that you "chest shot a hare the other day". If you were south of the border, or if it was a mountain hare, or if you have a licence to shoot brown hares as agricultural pests, fine. But there's a seasonal restriction in Scotland on the shooting of brown hares now - they can't be taken between 1st February and 30th September. As I said, I'm not trying to be smart or holier-than-thou. I just don't want to see someone getting into bother for popping one out-of-season.
