BRNDL
Hello all, I am advertising these days for a loyal member of Lancashire Field Sports (FB Group). Location - West Yorkshire Dates - Various, mainly Wednesday and Saturdays Cost - £125 per gun Deposits - £125 per gun Terrain - Moor land Bag Limit - 5 brace (based on 8 guns) Unlimited woodcock, snipe, duck, pigeon and rabbit I have personally been on a day and loved it. Excellent ground, plenty grouse. I witnessed over 150 on the day and some of the other guns reckoned easily over 250. Tough day out on the moor with the guns, dogs, and lunch strapped to your back. PM for more details. Yes we are aware this is cheap for grouse shooting, get it whilst you can for this season. More information on the Facebook page Game Shooting UK. Thanks in advance. shoot and be safe
What the date? Also is it 5 brace per gun (ever the optimist) or team (more likely at this price)?

Paul223
I think £130 a brace is about the going rate??
shoot and be safe
Around £140+vat/brace for driven but you do have to have a few more than 5 brace in the bag. So presumably £125 for the chance of shooting grouse is quite cheep, however I would think everyone should get at least the chance of a brace each. scotslad
It is actually quite dear for grouse if only a 5 brace day (althou very cheap if 5 brace per gun, which it could be if stocks are high and keepers are desperate to get the birds off the moor before winter) If ur shooting 3-1 thats only 3 bangs each for 125 quid, so possible 1 or 2 might not get a shot. I've been on 10ish brace days afore and been unlucky not to get a shot, just the way it goes, other times ur luck is in Generally ur looking at something like 90 a brace over pointers + dog handler fee, 120 walked up, and 150ish driven. althou later on in the season it may well be possible to get 50-100 brace days with no bag limit and if u can all shoot a bit and weather is kind the keepers will put as many birds over u as possible as they need them shot as quickly as possible at this time of year, so 200+ brace if ur lucky and can hit them If ur in the 'cliqche' and a good killing gun there will be a lot of freebie days going about from now on trying to get birds off the moor. BRNDL
Guys, Yes, you don't have to have your dog strapped to your back... Yes, it is 5 brace per team of 8 guns. The cost is £125 for "the day" which involves the opportunity to shoot grouse. You may end up with three grouse if you can shoot, or you may end up with no grouse if you cant. Its £125 per gun - You will spend £125.00 per gun. Not £125 per brace and you end up shooting 3 brace...its £125.00. If your very luck and a tad ignorant you may shoot 4 brace yourself, its still £125.00. Edited October 16, 2014 by BRNDL
WGD
Not having a pop, but if I read this correctly it is £125/gun (I'm just about clear on that). At 8 guns that is £1000 for the day, don't think my maths has failed me thus far. For 5 brace, that is £100 per bird or £200 per brace. And that my friend is very expensive grouse shooting. BRNDL
In total yes, that is correct, £1000 8 guns. If you pay £125 and shoot 3 grouse out of the 10...that my friend is very cheap grouse shooting. Swings and roundabouts...you may shoot nothing at all, and no grouse would have cost you £125.00 This is good value grouse shooting, that is why most of his days are booked and paid up in advance at £125 per gun. On the day I went, some of the lads tipped the guide on top of the days charge as they had a thoroughly good day out. If you want to kill on mass then book on a driven day. If you want a good day out for not much money then book on this. Its quite simple really.
lt3033
to me it sounds like people are going to be really trying to get there moneys worth, resulting in people shooting at birds that are clearly in line for the next shooter, some people getting greedy and some people getting ****** off. doesnt sound like a great day out to me! Paul223
Sounds like a mixed bag day with a chance of grouse, shooting it with a group of good friends would be the way to go
JDog
If I went on a small day like this I would have to go with a group of friends, all of whom I would trust not to be greedy and shoot half the bag themselves.
BRNDL
Usually the days are groups of friends. I recently went on a walked up pheasant day with others I didnt really know and experienced the same thoughts...some ****** is going to shoot the bag limit and there will be nothing left for me but an overage to pay. I couldn't of been more wrong. A day out with like minded people and a bag of 32 birds. The keeper ran the show, mixed the guns up well and we all got some great shooting. The same will happen on this shoot. The guide will mix the line up to suit so everyone gets good opportunities. Only he knows where the birds hold... There is a big difference between a 10 bird day and a 30 odd bird day, shooting will be far more spread out and all the guns would really be almost guarranteed a shot/bird with the larger bag. Neither size of bag is going to attract trigger pullers and far more about the enjoying the day, but i do feel however u dress it 125 for 1 1/4 grouse or 200 quid a brace is a lot of cash for walked up, esp when bag is so small for the number of guns. Generally a 5 brace bag is wot u'd expect shot over pointers between 2-4 guns, generally a walked up party will be shooting 10+ brace Any sporting/land agent would bite ur hands of if u offered them 200 quid a brace for walked up grouse
matone
To be fair ,there isn`t a lot of walked up grouse shooting available on Pennine moors,so this will appeal to anyone in the area who wants to experience it .
