fenboy
Just got back from my first moon flight. I am still goose less, but there were a huge amount moving tonight. As expected they were very difficult to see without any cloud to speak of , I did have the gun up a few times but always decided I just could not see well enough to judge the range . It was a very enjoyable experience none the less , spoilt only by the chap who sat himself about 80 yards from me and did a good impression of a trumpet player with his call , he called geese that were coming straight to us , he called at geese that were two miles away , he called at swans, he called at brent and he called at nothing , if I had it my way he would need a operation to have that bloody call removed from his **** ! Penelope
That's a pity about Louis Armstrong fenboy, but glad you enjoyed the experience. Some think calls are a magic elixir that will have fowl flying down their barrels. Weekend of the 6th/7th Dec. for the next moon Just got back from my first moon flight. I am still goose less , but there was a huge amount moving tonight , all seemed to be leaving the marsh , did not see or hear any coming back . As expected they were very difficult to see without any cloud to speak of , I did have the gun up a few times but always decided I just could not see well enough to judge the range . It was a very enjoyable experience none the less , spoilt only by the chap who sat himself about 80 yards from me and did a good impression of a trumpet player with his call , he called geese that were coming straight to us , he called at geese that were two miles away , he called at swans, he called at brent and he called at nothing , if I had it my way he would need a operation to have that bloody call removed from his **** ! marsh man
Glad you went and enjoyed flighting under the moon , to have somebody 80yds from you with miles of foreshore in your area is unlucky to say the least , if anything down here we had to much cloud , it rained hard when I was flighting down the marsh and it carried on most of the night with the sky clearing about 11pm . With your determination I bet you will get what you are after by the end of the season .......Geese that is

I Tip my Hat to you Fenboy for showing restraint IMHO your a credit to Coastal Fowlers and nobody deserves more than you a Pink off the Foreshore. Keep at it as Marshman says I'm sure you will achieve your goal and I for one will raise a class to you when you do. As for your " Pied Piper " neighbour your feelings and thoughts are as mine. Just a shame they could not take a leaf out of your Book.
Fal
I would have gone to tell him to wrap up lol No joke, getting to the shore and sitting out there takes a lot of work, more work than people realise and to be ruined by some muppet blowing a call non stop, no chance! I am eagerly awaiting your write up of bagging that goose!!!!

Sorry fenboy, i was quite hoarse when i came off. Joking aside what used to annoy me, most fowlers would get out early for morning flight, then as dawn was breaking you would get the torch waving brigade plodding about and talking at top of their voices. widgeon man
Managed a couple of geese under the moon! : ) few duck too, that squeaking and sqwarking worked ; ) ....... I think it's more than acceptable calling, but it's not always needed and calling at every skein or continuously is both annoying and unnecessary

Has geese earlier this season, but those two were my first shots under the moon this season. Always special under that moon for me, though sometimes variable and this time v. Hard work!
