LondonLuke
Hi guys Question as per title really, it seems a bit of a difficult price point I know I want Over Under, ejector, 28/30 barrel length It will be used for 90% clay shooting but want to be able to use it for field too if opportunity arose. The options I can see are Brand new Webley Scott Brand new Yilditz Brand new Silma Second hand Beretta Second hand Browning Second hand Miroku (Perhaps with a little stretch of budget) I know you should buy the gun that fits you best but keen to hear thoughts on going brand new vs second hand before then picking up as many as possible I love the idea of a new gun, but don't want something that will halve in value which the brands above seem to I love the idea of having a great brand higher quality of gun, but don't want someone else's problem gun which they have beaten/abused All help gratefully received! Shooterluke
For the guns second hand your looking at its the resale value you waint lose much if you come to sell. what i would do if i was you would go to a local try before you buy and shoulder a few have a few shots see how they feel mate you will not go wrong with a miruko ,browning, beretta by the way . Salop Matt
I cant remember the price but check out ATA, Welshworrior (Daff) on here sells them, I was very impressed with them when I had a lesson using his. They are basically a Beretta and are made at the same place. ATB Matt
Scully
Given your criteria forget the first three in your list and concentrate on the lower three, but add Winchester 101 and Lanber Sporting DeLuxe. The first three are undesirable guns and you will take a hammering on resale.
ChrisAsh
Add Betinsolli to the list Italian and good value and quaslity

BattleFieldRelics
Browning 525 classic. Had mine for 12 years and its never missed a beat.
HDAV
Browning 525 classic. Had mine for 12 years and its never missed a beat. getting one for £750 would be a steal! Perhaps a tatty 325/425 in the right place at the right time. Sporting clays? Trap or skeet? MC ideal but for sporting some bored at 1/4-1/2 will be fine may well get a Winchester or miroku at that money friend got a beretta 686 for £800 but its a ladies gun short stock and adjustable comb but I happened to be there when it was being traded in ( had I not then it would have been £900+) Whatever you get make sure it fits and shoot before you buy. Resale only matters when you sell but it's a good guide new guns at £750 are out there franchi alcione is another but not the pedigree of the big 3 I would go for miroku 6000/3800 choked 1/4 and half 30" https://www.guntrader.co.uk/mobile/gunDetail.php?NewGunID=140913124546001&skipNo=15&perPage=60&Filter%5BNewType%5D%5B%5D=Shotgun&Filter%5BNewMechanism%5D%5B%5D=Over+and+Under&Filter%5BCalibre%5D%5B%5D=12+gauge&Filter%5BMake%5D%5B%5D=Miroku&sortField=poa&sortOrder=asc Edited November 24, 2014 by HDAV

Harnser
My advice would Be to go for a browing or beretta . Don't worry to much about fit as new guns are built to a standard average size which means that they almost fit most people but don't actually fit any body . Don't worry if the stock is to long as this can be easily put right . But never buy a gun that is to short in the stock as it can expensive to put right and will look horrible with a piece let in . Concentrate on buying the gun you want at the price you want to pay . Having the gun fitted can be done at a later stage for not to much money . Good luck with your search . brett1985
going from your lists, if new my choice would be silma. very underated gun for the money. im sure there will be advocates of the other 2, but my choice would be silma. from your used list, any of the 3 you mentioned would serve you well depending on your height and build. browning and miroku seem to be a little heavier than beretta and also a little chunkier in the hand. welshwarrior
Personally I'd go secondhand Of your new choice the Silma and Yildz I'd not buy a Webley and Snot
Browning 425 clay hunter
For the same budget with a bit of haggling I got my 425. Fantastic value for money. It was up at £800 got it for £750 cash. Definitely recommend. ATB 425 P.S it's a well known fact all the best shots use 425's.
NffcFarmerBoy
Strongly recommend Bettinsoli, cracking guns and built like tanks!
Simon123
I found my current Browning 525 sporter in mint condition and still tight for £800, and shoots like a dream, would recommend a browning or miroku to anyone.... definitely on the top of my list!!! It's mostly about being at the right place at the right time!!! Edited November 24, 2014 by Simon123
gazbev
Firstly I would go to a clay ground with a decent gunshop so you can get some advice as to which gun would suit you best. I saw someone shooting a winchester select not long ago and it looks like a decent bit of kit if you can stretch your budget for a new one

Gordon R
Beretta or Miroku / Browning is the sensible option. A whole lot more gun for your money than a newer, lower grade gun.

LondonLuke
Wow. PW really does always come through It seems the consensus is to go for the "better" brand but second hand I would like it this side of Xmas in an ideal world so will scour guntrader and the like as well as here Am hoping to take a day off next week and find a localish shop with shoot where can test a few Thank you all for your input! It's tough going to gun shops where every person says something different The last one moaned when I said if I won the lottery I would buy a Purdey...
