southeastpete
Hi, I wish to consult the PW massive again. My Sheath knife broke, and it became apparent it has a pathetic little tang. It's been a great knife, I just wish it had a finger guard, and a better tang! In my new knife, I'm looking for a 5-6 inch bladed sheath knife. I want a decent thick heavy blade with a good/full tang. I'd like one sturdy and robust enough to be able to hit the back of the blade with a lump of wood to split firewood, and be able to strike with the pommel if the need arose. Thing is, I'm on a budget as always. So far I am looking at a buck 119 or 102, the SOG aura camping, or something like this http://www.blades-uk.com/products.php?id=4243. Any ideas? Cheers, Pete Edited February 19, 2015 by southeastpete

bigman
Sounds like you want to give the knife a good hiding don't forget there really only ment to cut not split wood , that's for axes but perhaps you should be looking at a good full tang model to take abuse like that , the British army mod knife is built like a tank and cheap made by shefields J Nowill Edited February 20, 2015 by bigman

The link you posted has a knife of over 39 cms! It's a MONSTER!!! The SOG aura camping doesn't have a finger guard and you state that you are on a budget, so that will probably put the Bucks out of reach. I suggest you look through the Boker range. southeastpete
The sog aura kind of does, the blade extends below te handle and acts as it's own guard. Didn't realise that other one was 39cm though! I did look at that boker, and also through heinnie Haynes the magnum camp lite...
