Cosd
After watching our fields of drilled Beans for over a week and not much showing, another one of our farms drilled some barley on the weekend and some reccy again yesterday, we decided to go today. Turned up at 10am with my shooting buddy Xplor and met an old boy who also shoots the farm. We decided to set up in two hides with me and my buddy sharing. We had no dead birds and set out 20 odd mixed plastics where as the old boy set out around 30 dead birds. It was obvious straight away what the birds preference was, 8 out of 10 headed to him and we watched as he fired away. My buddy soon decided to put out the magnet with a couple of dead birds and the birds reacted. We slowly replaced the plastics with shot birds and the tables turned. We were drawing in the lions share of birds. The old boy who was the one that advised against the rotary saw what we had done and we could see him in the back of his Landy, we knew what he was up to. He too put out a rotary. We'd obviously got our pattern right because we continued to draw in the majority of birds. They decoyed well but there was also a lot of high birds. We did miss a few easy shots if I'm honest, but on the same token we shot some scorchers too. The old boy came over toward the end of the day telling us he hadn't shot particularly well finishing on 22. We finished our day on 86. Not a bad bag considering his hide was 250 yards away. I think we would have hit 150 birds today had we had the field to ourselves, but no complaints, he has as much right as we do. Overall a very enjoyable day in the hide with my mate Xplor, lots of banter as always and great company. 86 shot, 85 picked. 20 missing from the picture where we gave 20 to the old boy for his ferrets. Thanks Rob Yep, we've watched them almost daily to no avail until yesterday. We even thought about putting a few banger ropes in your fields to head them our way

landofficer
You could of put the 2 hides 50 or so yards apart and taken birds either side or took in turns. I have done this with geese on a small marsh when another decoyed turned up we shared the same spot instead of having 2 sets of decoys. bakerboy
Hi Cos I will be at the Master Class on Saturday, shame we will not be able catch up. Yes the truck is the one we spoke about, went to the show to get "nothing" other than a couple of deals tidied up, and came away with a new truck on order. Now I cannot wait to collect it , roll on Wednesday. Lesley is well thanks, just waiting now for the results.
