throttlemonkey
Ok, I live in the suburbs of London( for my sins) and have a large garden by London standards, I also keep chickens. A large dog fox and a very mangy vixen are always about probably with a litter of for or five Cubs somewhere nearby. What would you do?

walshie
If you don't have an open ticket, you might hypothetically be able to get someone with an open ticket who lives nearby (New Malden for instance) to come and shoot them for you. throttlemonkey
I could trap them and take them to the wildlife rescue centre 200 yds down the road make a donation and have them back in my garden a few hours later. Naively I took a baby tree rat there a little while back it was an experience for my youngest Bella I made a donation of £10 for them to take it in, not knowing the legalities of releasing a captured animal back into general population what a mug 😂😂😂

Maybe that's true but "very mangy vixen" in an area where my dog had access would worry me.
throttlemonkey
Hey Walshie, didn't we chat about ham and petersham a little while back? Apparently open certificates include back gardens. It is perfectly okay to shoot a rimfire sub in a back garden. Why wouldn't it be? As long as it's fired from an upstairs window down into a lawn backstop. I don't think anyone here would suggest firing at any other angle. As long as it's fired from an upstairs window down into a lawn backstop. I don't think anyone here would suggest firing at any other angle. Because even then it will go through the animal and you can't guarantee that it won't ricochet. It is also not inconceivable that someone will see you popping in and out the window with a gun in the back ground and regardless of the relative innocence of the reason, the police won't be happy. I will change my mind if and when one of the devotee's of this practice shows me proof that their police force thinks it's good and dandy. ps. I have had an open certificate for years and to me it means a farm and even then one that I judge to be safe and suitable for rimfire. No garden I've ever seen satisfies that criteria, thinking up a narrow, single situation where a shot could reasonably be taken without too much worry is not the same as suitable for rimfire. Apparently open certificates include back gardens. :hmm: An Open/Unrestricted FAC is just that. It is down to the shooter to decide if it is a safe shot or not. I shoot loads in peoples back gardens, as do many other Pest Controllers and no doubt a number of owner/occupiers as well. In these situations I virtually always advise the Police what I will be getting up to, they have not raised any objections so far!
