Guest Wilksy
Best day yet! Ten woodies and two jackdaws but missed loads and had to call it a day at 2pm but they were bombing in still! but the best bit was one for each barrel! Started the day on just showing barley, but moved to a rape field in the afty, that's were the action was and because id packed up on the barley I decided to travel light on the rape, just half a dozen birds, a bag of carts and I hid in drainage ditch but it worked really well, they really do come in well for just dead birds no decoys don't they? WelshMike
I've had hundreds of trebles misses that is that the problem with having 3 shots, doesnt always mean 3 kills, usually means three wasted cartridges. well done on the shooting wilksy
Cosd
That's a great feeling when you get your first double. I was shooting with my now friend and then mentor Denny Essex when I hit my first double, I had a grin like a Cheshire cat and something you never forget. I often hit doubles now but three still evades me, it's almost like a mental block. Well done fella!!
Guest Wilksy
Cheers lads! It was ace, I texted the farmer straight after! All thanks to good advice on here,I think it was pigeon controller said let the first one land, slot the one behind him and second barrel on the one taking off, and ive changed to top barrel first now aswell, it would be my best chance of a triple with an o/u but I'll not hold my breath! motty
As PC has mentioned elsewhere, there is an art to shooting 3 with 2 shots. It requires timing and patience.

You will get a triple sooner or later then find they come along like buses , I manage the occasional one but last year shot 3 triples one after another , I then packed up and went home

JDog
Shooting on spring rape a number of years ago I watched a single bird from a distance until it came into the pattern and I shot it at about 30m. Another bird which I had not seen fell dead behind the first one at about 50m.
