the enigma
What's your preferred powder for .222, in particular for use with 40gr BT bullets? I've got load data that has been worked up for my particular rifle by the previous owner, but the powder is proving hard to source locally. Just looking for possible alternatives. Thanks D
Amazed
H4198, h322,blc2, vit n110 n120 ramshot exterminator and tac. I am using h322 for my 50 grain And some n110 I had left over for 40 grain Would recommend you went for the n120 as n110 is a bit fast and quite low load density. H4198, exterminator or n120 will be ver good for 40 grain All the best Karl,

Underdog
Rl7, h322 and bl-c2 are my favourites. Won't tell how fast we got a 40gr BT going on rl7, gets a lot of panties knotted up!

soulboy1957
H4198 or if you can get some accurate 2230/lovex 073/4, they are the same. Bought 4 kilos of lovex from George at proper cartridges at a really good price. Works really well in both my .222's and less than half the price of Hogdon. r1steele
I was an H4198 fan although most of the suggestions look acceptable. Ramshot TAC looks very slow to me, I had good results with Xterminator though I haven't found much difference between TAC and Xterminator to be honest. soulboy1957
Sorry been real busy its Lovex 073/4. Also sold for a lot more as accurate 2230. Both the same. 25g with 40g blitzing is a great foxing load.
Bewsher500
i doubt you will have issues with any powder .222 is one of the easier cartridges to load for I personally use heavier bullets and N133 no advantage shooting 40's when you can push 50's at 3200fps + you are getting no real trajectory advantage and all the issues of drift and lower energy with a lighter bullet
the enigma
Thanks for that. I've just had a look, not much difference at all.
Underdog
In standard 222 data yes, which caters for weaker action types. In strong actions you can get a good gain over book.
Sako7mm
N130 for me. I used Reloder 7 for years, but N130 has the edge on accuracy for me. Much cleaner burning than Reloder 7, too.
