-ben-
Hi I'm looking for a taxidermist to mount my first deer I shot this afternoon I'm in Suffolk. And what's the best way of preserving them until I get it to the taxidermist Many thanks Ben
MBW
Not sure about taxidermist..... Know one to avoid though, Best to cut the head off slightly more than you want mounted including a fair bit more skin so allow for it shrinking, so for example if you cut the neck off to be mounted you'd probably need to skin back to the shoulder beyond the cut. Wrap the head in poly bags and freeze it ASAP
-ben-
Thankyou it's shot in the lover part of the neck so I kept as much as I could and I've just put in a back and is on ice in the shed until I sort space in a freezer Thanks
steve_b_wales
http://www.geocities.ws/johnhalletttaxidermy/Index-3.html John is a friend of mine and is an excellent taxidermist. He does a lot of work for plains game animals from Africa. He may not be the cheapest, but his work is brilliant.
Old Boggy
Have you tried Richard Brigham who is in Lyng near Norwich ? Doesn't sound too far from you in Suffolk.

-ben-
Got mine back I took him with a neck shot so lost allot of the cape I now know for the next one if I'm keeping it take a chest shot but really pleased with how it's turned out was abit worried that it would be looking at the ground with the limited neck on it.
