Hayden
Just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying this thread. It's something I'd love to do at some point. It's amazing what you can do if you put your mind to it. Looking forward to the next instalment! Cheers Hayden

LowStandards
Lovely restoration so far Do yourself a favour and cut up the old chassis, its the legal identity of your truck and if you sell it, that's lost...
JDog
Lovely restoration so far Do yourself a favour and cut up the old chassis, its the legal identity of your truck and if you sell it, that's lost... Not that I know much about these things but that is a very good point. If a car is completely rebuilt does it have a recognisable identity? New chassis, new engine, new most things, will the DVLA have a record of it?
LowStandards
There's an 8 point rule if you fancy googling it But I the case of separate chassis cars the chassis IS the identity Meaning if you sold the old chassis the new owner could use the identity, number plate, tax status etc and you would be left with a huge pile of land rover shaped parts you can't do it with... Plus it promotes them getting nicked and identities changed
viking
didnt get much done this weekend, this afternoon i went into the garage with a few little jobs in mind, first was to put my new washer and split pins in the bottom of the new shocks, first 2 went in ok but got to be back and what was in there before had snapped off, couldnt bang them out and with my rubbish drill bits couldnt drill them out, was going to take bottom plates off that the u bolts go into to make drilling easier but then i thought id leave them alone and get some decent drill bits . viking
then unfortunately it all went very very very wrong, very very ******* wrong i decided to take the 2 bottom plates off to make drilling easier for when i got some drill bits, so under the back i went with spanners and ratchet in hand, unbolted the first one and before i took the last bolt off i thought to my self is this safe, had a quick think and thought yes nothing can go anywhere, so undid the last nut, sorted bottom plate off, on to the next one, took off all the bolts off but the plate was sort of caught on the threads of the bolts so still underneath and on my side i gave it a bash with my hand, now still not sure what or how it happened but i do know one thing, it came off and with it the springs crushed my shoulders to the floor and the rear cross member crushed my ribs to the floor, think i blacked out for a bit then i was flapping around of the floor desperately trying to get it off me, but with being trapped and on my side i had no strength, dont know how i managed it but i managed to lift it a bit to roll on to my back but then it was on my chest more super human strength and i got out a bit and had it on my legs then managed to free myself after what seemed an eternity, when i got out i was scared stiff at the damage i might of caused to myself, i was dizzy shaking like a ******* dog, rang grace to come and take me to the hospital witch luckily is only 3 mile away, thank got i got away with it very lightly, just bruising to my shoulders and side with a couple of broken ribs thrown in for good measure and to remind me NEVER to do something so ******* stupid like that again. it doesnt look bad but by christ it hurts

viking
got back on the horse today, or should i say under it, got it all back as it was and got the split pins in, i also realised that if id of taken the other side off second my head would of been crushed by the springs as they ended up 4-5 inch off the floor when it went bang. all's well that ends well
