BangBangNik
Afternoon all, I have recently been looking into getting a 4x4 for driving to/from and around the shoot. I already have a family car that is cheap to run and I'm not looking to replace that. Trouble is my no claims can only be used on one car so therefore I will be starting a fresh with the 4x4 and that makes insuring the thing too expensive. Anybody have any tips on how to avoid having my pants pulled down with the insurence? Thanks Nik
coldweld
Depends what you buy and how old it is. I have a Defender as a second car 1994 4000miles a year £170 fully comp

Such a clause would make my home inaccesable by motor..
Vince Green
Admiral Multicar policy advertise put as many cars as you like on one policy., never used them so don't know how good the deal is.
yod dropper
I got a quote from Aviva about a year ago for a dual car policy. I seem to recall they'd match my no claims on my main vehicle until they found out I'd claimed after a Muntjac collision and that lasts for 5 years. For something like a £3k ranger with 3k miles pa it would have been about £100.

Im with Admiral multi car got my shooting truck and another good range rover on it adding my bmw when its insurance runs out, you can start with 1 motor and add another when its insurance is due, good value but never had a claim so dont know what they are like for paying out Ray
snow white
Two motors with the post office very cheap
norfolk dumpling
Tried Admiral - very cheap at present? Be honest about your activities as 'cheap' can come with strings. Aviva multi car cover an option too - a mate has 3 cars including an Audi TT and 24 yo daughter - insured for £500.

Tedly47
Admiral multicar for me, I've been with them for the last 6 years, I check each year if I can get it cheaper but I can't..... Added a jimny earlier on this year as a third car, third party only with just me to drive.... Grand sum of 70quid extra.... Tedly
malkiserow
Give the NFU a call, this is exactly what they do very well and they expect 4x4's to go off road !
Fuji Shooter
Lancaster do my Series 3 Land Rover for £67 inc Green Lane, agreed valuation of £5K and 6000 miles per annum.
Cannon
Admiral were coming in at nearly £200 more expensive insuring my two vehicles on a multicar policy than what they were if insured individually. I think losing your no claims privilege when insuring a second vehicle is a farce. You can only drive one vehicle at a time
Davyo
Always found it cheaper to insure individually.
cromwell7
Get a separate policy, or do you have a wife/partner you live with they have the car in their name on a policy and your a named driver?
BangBangNik
Get a separate policy, or do you have a wife/partner you live with they have the car in their name on a policy and your a named driver? I thought of that....... But my wife has never had her own insurence so they wanted £1500 to insure her on our 52 plate 1.7 diesel astra!!!!!!! Have had a look at these multi car policies but it pretty much works out the same as doing it separately. Had a real laught the other day........to insure a 1.3 jimney it was coming in at nearly £800, to insure a 2.5 defender it was £230!
triumphant59
Insure a vw Tiguan and ford maverick on Aviva multi car for £341.
cromwell7
I think you just have to shop around for 2 policies then. Problem is with car insurance is you can't go of someone's recommendation as there are so many variables, drivers age, claim history, where the cars are kept, type of use etc etc
