Scully
According to the Mirror we're supposed to be having a 'white out' in three weeks time, apparently.

marsh man
Michael Fish said in Oct 1987 , we wont get a hurricane tonight , in a way he was right we didn't get a hurricane we got one of the worst storms in living memory . so how they can predict the winter I do not know , every year they say its going to be a bad winter and sooner or later there going to be right then they will say I told you so . I will stick looking at my ole bit of sea weed hanging up on the linen line or if the cows on the marsh are lying down
Guttersnipe
Interesting... it sounds like good news for over-wintering wildfowl, less so for wildfowlers. We'll have to look back with the benefit of hindsight and see just how good the meteorologists are. These long-term forecasts require a substantial "pinch of salt" but so far this season I've struggled with still flights - plenty of ducks/geese but they're either sky-high or just appear from any direction (always the one you aren't looking in!). If it is going to be that cold in Russia/Scadanavia we might just get bigger numbers than usual...

Penelope
I don't know if the Accuweather predictions are true hence the , but the Express say that every year, so they will get it right eventually. clanchief
I don't know what you are all worried about, we have been freezing and wet up here since last October, never been getting above 14*C, The last three weeks of our Indian summer have been the driest here in the WoS since last year. anser2
I never trust the weather forcasters. Where I was shooting yesterday it should have been 100% cloud with a north east wind and dry. It was clear sunny with odd heavy showers and a west wind! The weather will be what it will be this winter and the time to forcast what it is in March when the winters over. Scully
A good site we use to plan most of our building erections when we depend on good weather i.e. no wind, due to 800+ quid a day crane hire, is yr.no It is a Norwegian site and has seldom let us down yet. Marki
Snow in Leipzig yesterday. I appreciate that that comment is of no use to anyone but that puts it on par with all weather forecasts.
snarepeg
Best for weather forcast was the RAF at Bawtry, ( bomber command) but that was 55 years ago, Motor bike and sidecar and of to Witton/Alkboro/Winteringham, happy but cold days.
