TIGHTCHOKE
White Gold or Black Gold Clay are 7.5it, 6.5 English, 28g available plaswad or fibre. Before switching to 410, i did several game seasons on White Gold without any issues. White Gold count was 308 pellets for 28g weighed. Thanks, I used to favour many of Gamebore's loads including White Gold when I had a supplier nearby. I've been to the factory a couple of times in the past and thoroughly enjoyed watching the process. However, I am now working my way through some of Georges Proper Cartridges and am very happy with them, just wish there were more pigeons around these days! Guest cookoff013
Indeed - more reliable and therefore safer cartridges can only be a good thing. That said, whenever I think I've got it all sussed, I look at the Fiocchi website. Remember that this tradition of lighter loads and higher muzzle velocities seems to be a peculiarly English (and to some degree, American) thing. Take the Fiocchi JK6, for example: http://www.fiocchigfl.it/site/index.php?pag=807&linea=6&titolo_prod=JK6 34 or 38 grams of shot at mid-range velocity (with slightly questionable pressure). That's a reasonably ordinary hunting load. Elsewhere you'll find loads like 33 grams of #13 (!!! - for migratory bird shooting) and even their "Classic" range - probably equivalent to Hull's Imperial Game or Gamebore's Black Gold starts at 32 grams of shot, rather than the 26 or 28 grams we'd expect over here for a light game load. Again - this light-loads-shot-fast thing has by no means convinced the hunting world as a whole. Rather, it's a local fashion, probably encouraged by economic considerations, and one that I think will not last, unless we perhaps lose lead altogether and end up relying on steel. Those questionable pressures are HP loadings. Max average 1050bar. 1200 statistical. 850 is fine in guns proofed to use HP ammu.
Beagle boy
I use these carts for everything not the best clay cart butni love um, used them on rabbits pigeons squirrels corvids in general. There a good hard hitting cart that doesn't break the bank. I think there's too much snobbery involved in cartridges personally Which means carts like this can get over looked. They are even fibre wadds aswell Cheers rob
Old farrier
Hi Proberably a hard thing to find one cartridge for all Clays reasonable height game Pigeons and vermin To meet all requirements and chokes Eley impax 1 oz 7 shot Would be my choice Why Fibre wad Shot size and wad meets clay ground requirements And has killed more game than enough For higher game and pigeons / vermin Sipes in 5 shot Extreme and Wildfowl Well that's another debate My choice All the best Of

Arley
I had 250 Eley Grand Prix 32gm no 7. Killed some very good birds with them, only got 1 box left, not sure if they still make them? I bought mine cheap when Eley changed the packaging

Stonepark
White Gold are Italian sizes so 7.5 white gold are English 7 ( 2.4mm ) black gold range are continental sizes so a black gold 6 is a English 5 (2.8 mm ) That is indeed what they state on their website and on their boxes, however if you actually cut them open and weigh the pellets and then count them, the last i did were 312 pellets/oz, averaging 308 pellets per cartridge (28g), so a 6 1/2 rather than a 7 (340 pellets per oz). sitsinhedges
get some callipers on them and measure them You need to get an average so weighing them is the best way.
impala59
Re the original post, I was recommended Lylevale pigeon 70/29 #6 and had a few probs, most notably a cartridge stuck fast in the chamber where the "brass" had expanded sufficiently to jam into the extractor cut-outs. Also a feeling of inconsistency? I e-mailed Lylevale and they said maybe the metal part was weak on that cartridge, unfortunately once I cleared the jam I binned the case, should have kept it to return to them. I bought a slab and will try again but not a lot of confidence in this product.
the hitman
I have been using proper cartridges 32g no 6 on pheasants, and I am very pleased with them . I recently bought some proper cartridges 30g no 6 for pigeons ( which George kindly delivered ) , and as long as they are available I won't be using any else . They are a good tight load , with real stopping power , and no harsh recoil . I have often mentioned on here that I use Trust 28g no7 for decoying , however I will be sticking with the "propers" from now on .

Added bonus is Fiocchi reload much better.
