kyska
I'm away to deliver a seminar tomorrow and am sat in a very nice pub/restaurant. Just having a couple of beers and can't decide on my main course. Venison with red current and chocolate, mashed celeriac and potato Or Confit duck, champ and roast veg Or do I just stay at the bar, get some pork scratchings and get hammered on university expenses? They have an expansive gin collection Edited April 25, 2016 by kyska

lord_seagrave
I love being on my own, even in a bar. +1, especially in a bar. Having a chat (or not); seeing all the funny little routines of the staff; the regulars. I used to really enjoy a night or two travelling for work, and just pitching up to random pubs and curry houses. Although, as Mark Corrigan once said, "You're never alone with a phone" Confit is the safer of the two, I reckon. LS

kyska
Ah, now that is a pain. Happiness is a good book. Outside of a book a dog is mans best friend, inside of a dog it's too dark to read. I've gone for the venison, changed the sauce to red wine and mushroom, champ and a bottle of Shiraz Edited April 25, 2016 by kyska
keg
I still travel a lot with work and whilst it has it's advantages, after a while it's a lonely existence. I have a 500 acre permission near where i stay some weeks and agree about the book etc but would rather be at home with family.

Yea, I do this rarely, I'd prefer to travel than stay over, but I'm going further south tomorrow evening, wouldn't make sense. Saying that, I've got a hire car, a new Kia sportage thing, it's fantastic, I was expecting dross from what I normally drive, how wrong am I. AVB
I have just had dinner in a nice resturant in Glasgow. Half dozen oysters to start and then ribs for mains. V nice but chips were very skinny. Now on train to Edinburgh. Surprisingly scenic.
kyska
whats the seminar about, I would enjoy an evening at someone else's expense, not sure about the chocolate unless its desert Boring but important stuff, introducing real life anatomy into non professional learners, it's all done post qualification which is absurd and a waste of money, not that it'll happen but it'd be great for student nurses, ODP'S and similar to have access to Dr anatomy training. I've gone for the venison, changed the sauce to red wine and mushroom, champ and a bottle of Shiraz Good choice. I work away quite often, usually with another five blokes, and it is bliss to just sneak away, find a quiet bar and spend time on my own. We always eat well, at the companies expense even though we're all self-employed, and the only time I have had Lobster Thermadore (spelling) was while erecting a building for Tintagel Parliament on the Isle of Man, again at the companies expense. We ate really well in Bramhall in Cheshire and in East Lothian, where I found a fabulous Indian restaurant and would often sneak out of the digs after a quick shower after work and dine there on my own, then present my invoices to the boss once back home. Enjoy your meal and the time to yourself, but don't get blathered; I did a little anatomy as an art study and it is imperative to know ones **** from ones elbow. And no worries about the anatomy, I can do it asleep, never considered how important it would be to artists, I have now, I suppose Gray caught up more quickly than me on this.
