robbiep
They are pretty widespread, so yes, quite possibly. There have been verified sightings / road kills in pretty much every county in England in the last decade. Here in North Wales I've only ever seen 2. Both times caught in my fox cage trap, which they were released from.

srspower
My dad found a feral ferret whilst out walking the dog a good few years ago. She was nightmare to work as shed kill everything underground but after having kits she chilled out loads.

panoma1
It could be polecats and escaped ferrets are breeding, this my be the reason more sightings are being made lately?......or maybe polecats are increasing and spreading from their traditional strongholds? who knows? hushpower
There was a big push to reintroduce them to certain areas a few years back I recall
peck
I would almost certainly say they are polecats.
scolopax
The only polectats I have seen, and I see them every time I go, are splatted into the tarmac on the A road that approaches the Midland Game fair from the east.
