ShootingEgg
I have a bag full, close to 100 brass heads from some very old 12g carts, all rusted out. Shot from cartridges sold to a reloader, the power burnt (what would anyway) now have to brass and primer. Ive already got rid of some buy putting them in a metal drum bin but when going back to it found a lot of small holes in the side of the bin..... So looking for a more sensible way of making them safe.. How do others dispose of them??
steve_b_wales
Soak the brass/primers in engine oil or similar. It should make the primer safe.
Vince Green
put them in a bucket of water
Walker570
Drop them in some waste oil, then put them in the 45gal drum and burn. I chuck all of my primered waste stuff on my fire down the wood with other burnable waste. Sounds like the 4th of July :-) Appreciate you may not have such facilties. ShootingEgg
Reactive air rifle/rifle targets! Would be interesting way to deal with them
Dannyboy220
Would be interesting way to deal with them Wouldn't recommend it though. My mate shot at one with an air rifle. It went off which fired the primer cap straight back at him. Reckons he heard it whizz by his head!

Old farrier
Soak the brass/primers in engine oil or similar. It should make the primer safe. Safer from struck ignition but not inert 😥 Sorry put them in a bucket of water That's why they went rusty. 😂😂
ShootingEgg
Why didn't you clean the brass up? When it is missing as its rusted out its hard to clean... Someone gave me a bag full of carts as they dont use 12g. So i wanted to check them... Found some that had gone past what id like to call safe. ShootingEgg
Putting them in a metal bin fire turned out to be a little interesting and glad the first lot was lit and walked away from as the holes were all over the bin....
