ditchman
Well....yesterday was a nice day ...and i had a few good shots...we also saw what i thought was the start of the pigeon migration.....500 or so birds following a set line...like a couple of years ago on the other side of the field.. So ...i thought i would nip out today and sit under the line......Huh !!....no such luck......t'wernt migration...it was just a few ole buds making their way off somewhere...so all i had was a bit of passing trade.... the first 3 pics are...my effort at "concealing" myself....well it works anyway...i have been using this method for some time now...its quick an' easy and i have everything to hand and the birds arnt bothered by it.. ditchman
The cartridges on the left are what i was using today 32gm 7's.....and the ones on the right were the last of the 34gm 5's.... on the 3rd pic if you squint hard you can just see a dead bird on the ceral.......i paced it out at 55yds...it was crossing the field at about 20ft up....it was shot with 32gm 7...using half choke out of a 26" barrel....and it was POLEAXED...quite pleased with that shot..... turbo33
At least you found the abandoned vehicle and didn't get into trouble for driving on the stewardship😀 Rape round here is the same Ditchers, still the frost later in the week will sort that out! iano
All joking aside, where do you actually shoot from with that rig? Shut the rear door and shoot around the back?
ditchman
no the rear door stays open...i sit on the carpet...and if i look left thro the front of the landrover i can see the birds coming....so i watch them and stand and take them on the left or the right....if most of the birds are coming from that direction ..i drop the rear net and take the birds as they cross...... the thing that spooks birds is movement......i rekon i could stand there in a day glo vest ...and providing i didnt move...they would come close enough to shoot............ At least you found the abandoned vehicle and didn't get into trouble for driving on the stewardshipRape round here is the same Ditchers, still the frost later in the week will sort that out! you are a wicked bunch of ****.......................why are you so nasty to a poor old man.... pigeon controller
I love the set up especially for the slow days on the rape, cooker and bacon butties on hand for the slow periods. No lugging gear around and even carry the gas for the heater on the cool days . Well done Ditchman, showing us how it should be done.
