Hello, I've restored a few over the years. Still have some in storage my dads. Been years since I've been to a show. What do you ask?

Why do you ask?

I've always liked looking at them at shows, love the noise they make, the movement of them and in away the mechanical history to them and often hankered after one, now I've got plenty of time but not much money.......I don't know if I've got the skills to tackle one, (or the money to get someone to sort it out if I make a balls up)

Can you still get parts easily enough, Where else other than that online auction site to look for one ? (Running but maybe cosmetically challenged?)

If you own a socket set you will have the skills to sort one out. The cheapest and most common is the Lister D for £50 you should get a complete example and parts are plentiful.

Something bit less common but similar is a wolsey Wd but looking a bit more for one of those. Much over that prices start creeping up to the 100s. Open crank stuff in particular is pricey.

To be honest I normally find an engine running am implement more interesting so a humble lister D running something would be how would spend my money if it was a limited budget.

And when you look back most of our industrial heritage was thrown out on the scrap. I won't mention Maggie Thatcher coz it will only start conflict. So I don't want to go down that road. Good old Fred Dibnah. Let's go down a possitive road.

Conflict on PW, I think not.

And as for Mrs T I would not think anyone on this forum would have one bad word for her, one would not be enough!
