JDog
Lloydi has been kind enough to have me to stay several days this week so in return I said I would take him out pigeon shooting. I never said I would give him a 'good' day as that cannot be guaranteed on winter rape. We were in position by 8:00 as I wanted to beat another shooter who has weedled his way in to this land to the spot. False start one was my companion forgetting the dead birds and I had to walk back to the car to get them. False start two was finding that his rotary did not work. It was broken the last time he used it and as he hasn't had it mended it was always likely to remain broken. Another journey back to the car for me to get my rotary. False start three was finding evidence of the other shooter only when we were set up and finding birds flaring off. After an hour or so it was obvious that the birds were decoy shy so I decided to pack up and drive three miles to my reserve field. Moving usually works for PC but not for me. However within minutes of being set up birds returned and we had steady shooting for getting on for three hours in decent weather. The birds that decoyed were generally shot, those that came for a look were sometimes shot, and the high birds sailing over completely disinterested in the decoys were saluted but usually not shot. Between us we fired 150 shots. Whether this represents a 'good' day in my companions eyes I cannot say but I enjoyed it greatly. We picked sixty pigeons and would have found more had we had a dog. Jasper was at home keeping my wife company whilst I was away.

aga man
Very few people are shooting bags of 60 pigeons at present so very well done to you both. The land of milk and honey obviously! Edited February 4, 2017 by aga man
pigeon controller
Well done JDog to handicap yourself with Lloydi certainly gave the pigeons a chance, attention to detail is the key objective so it must have been his Celtic ancestry that caused the false starts and well done for moving if it doesn't happen, you ended the day with a good number so it still proves you have the Cotswolds Magic. lloydi73
Ok ok, yes it was a fantastic day and we definitely had fun...,however, one would like to add here, that said rotary was working fine until my aged friend I was shooting with wired it back to front and blew the bloody motor.....lol....anyway, I had immense fun as always when shooting with JDog and made a bit of spare cash in the process by dropping off the bag at the game dealers.. lloydi73
Well done nice report I enjoyed that and nice to see that between you, you had 150 shots. Between us, lol, you and JDog are far too kind, I think I had about 150 by myself, good old JDog has spared my sensitivity but alas, I shot terribly and he counted for majority of the bag. None the less I still had great fun, and enjoyrd listening to JDog and gaining valuable lessons and experience...

There is always two sides to one story lloydi , now Mr JDog didn't tell us that , and here we are thinking that the bad start was done to you , if anything , to end up with over 60 pigeons , I would say you were a good luck charm . and I hope the pigeons made good money to help you pay for a state of the art new motor with fool proof terminals. Sound like a very enjoyable day you both had and hope there are many more to come
