Con
Just a quick g'day. Joined recently to keep an eye on what's occurring over 'that' side of the World. Not pigeon related, but SE Australia is slowly opening its duck season's with Sth Australia a fortnight ago, Tasmania last weekend, Victoria in 2 days and 2 very sleepless nights time. Just to put icing on the cake, drove down a dirt road and a patch of starlings got up ... well, so I thought until I got close enough to realise they were juvenile Stubble quail. Going to be a most excellent bird season I feel! Cheers...
duke748
G'day Con. I guess the Pigeons, like most other Aussie wildlife, are highly venomous, got big teeth and razor sharp talons Welcome from another newcomer
fortune
Hello and welcome. what guns do you use? Rifle / shotgun. I used to chat online with a fisherman who lived in Laureton up the east coast on another board. But the board closed and I I lost contact with him. He had lent a sporterised 303 to a mate who had nearly wrecked it. It came back with a broken stock !! He kind of got a rough old piece of basically floor board and hacked out a rough stock to test run the gun. We took the mick out of his wood working skills Eg what a fine piece of walnut and best quality London hand rubbed stock ect. It was all good fun. PS can you still use lead there on wildfowl or is it non tox stuff only? Edited March 15, 2017 by fortune

Con
Started off 30 years ago with shotguns, drifted to rifles when our duck hunting became mandated steel (and they took our semis and pumps), but with a relatively young family, have drifted back to the shotguns as there are numerous opportunities to participate in clay events. But basically ... if it goes BANG ... I'll be in it. Cheers... Edited March 15, 2017 by Con

Feltwad "Much" ... not really, but it is about. Allows you to still use lead for waterfowl ... I suppose the exposure to BP depends on the circles you move in, some clubs like the Vintagers use BP quite regularly. But you rarely see it outside specialist events or in BP clubs etc... Cheers... That's barmy. Nitro = No wildfowl shooting with lead. Black powder = yep shoot the wildfowl !! Surely it's the lead that is the problem not the propellant. That's as barmy as us. Pheasant flies over pond >> shoot it with lead. duck flies over wheat stubble naah can't shoot it with lead. Got to be non tox. Crackpot. Lord Geordie
G-day Con! Sound like your going to get a fair crack at the game this season! I was over in Oz a few year back up in NSW. Was supposed to meet another member off here and have a go with the wild goats! Stupidly I forgot his bloody phone number I was in Mossvale mainly, but had a week in Tuross Head too. A few day trips out during the time I was there. I have to say, I am bloody jealous of your country. Part of me wishes my olds had been wrong uns so I had been born an Aussie. It sucks the authorities took your semi and pumps! They are aiming to try that all over the EU too. I must admit, I love my shotguns. I have air rifles too! But the shotgun can cover many bases. I remember finding a nice spider on the window one morning and picked it up to check it out! The girl I was visiting went fair nuts screaming at me! Then the following day needed a new pair of Chundies when I nearly stepped on a brown snake in the garden The wildlife there is freakin awesome! Even the bugs are fascinating. Anyway I had better get on with my mundane UK existence Hoo roo.
