davewh100
hi I've got to cut some 80mil holes in some stainless steel tops can any one recommend a good hole cutter thanks dave
figgy
How thick is the stainless steel? If only a few mil thick a decent bi metal one with cutting oil will do, Starrett or Bosch etc if it's thick then you can buy carbide toothed hole saws not cheap though. When cutting go slow and steady as soon as it goes blue it will blunt your cutter. TCT toothed hole saw link, cheaper than I thought. https://www.starrett.co.uk/shop/power_tool_accessories/holesaws/tct_stainless_steel_hole_saw/?gclid=CIbE14us7dMCFWsq0wodhKMJhw Edited May 13, 2017 by figgy
fortune
Starrett. When cutting stainless you got to have a sharp tool, use lots of lubricant /coolant, go slow so as not to get the cutter hot and keep cutting. If you ease off the stainless will work harden and blunt the cutter almost immediately. Wrecking the cutter.

CaptainBeaky
Lenox cutters - last longer than Starrett on stainless. As above, go slow, and lots of cutting fluid.

Ow a much! I've got one out in the workshop somewhere. Jeez it's frightening when you start to tally up how much stuff costs like drills and taps and dies and bigger tools.
