subsonicnat
Had the god fortune to handle a Benelli auto. Had 12 shots on skeet with it,,what a cracking bit of kit. Got me thinking I could use one of these,Balnce was a corker, practicly shot its self, enertia driven, sound was lovely shutting it.. Got me slobbering now,,,But by crikey they are very expensive guns. This one was carbon fibre stock ans top rail.. Been looking the model is about 2 thousand pounds new. What a tool,,But cannot see justification for spending that amout though.. Ah Well. Gordon R
They seem well made, but I find the recoil off-putting. I don't normally feel recoil at all - these bounce around like the old Franchi long recoil.
Wingman
They recoil alot more than a gas gun. I had an M2 for a bit but didn't get on with it so sold it. I would suggest trying a Winchester SX3 or SX4 or a Beretta auto. If I was in the market now for a high end auto the Beretta A400 multitarget would be top of my list. Guest cookoff013
I love my montefeltro. The quail / snipe versions are light. Needs punch to get them running right
Catamong
I own a Benelli Supersport, a lovely gun for Pigeons, but a bit "lively" to handle compared to an O/U. I bought a weighted mag cap from Tony Manvell at Wiltshire Rod & Gun, it adds 6 ounces on the end of the mag cap and the gun handles a lot smoother, recoil is never an issue. Invest in one, you don't have to pay £2k for a new one, they come up on here quite often at between £1200 - £1500 a pop, you won't regret it..! The only thing I would say about them is that the recoil pad is made of very soft rubber compound, it's easy to damage it by snagging it in the zip of the Gun Slip.. Cat. Whitebridges
I used the old rafaello model. Had it for 4-5 years maybe. I did the same as Cat and added a customised weighted foreend cap screw. Loved the balance and handling. .... but the trigger was a bitch. Got rid and now use an A400 extreme and for me I can't find fault with it. subsonicnat
Well I am getting some differing feedback,as Gordons comment, and of course Cat and whitebridges. Funny enough went to see a new nieghbour today to say hello, would you believe a shootinb man,,,,,,, With a Benelli Auto,,who says he may be Selling,,,,?.. Only put 6 shots through it.!!. So what is truly going on,,,He paid 1500 for it,New.??. As said I did hit 12 ex 12 on skeet, never fired one before, and did not notice recoil.??. Love the gun,but you have put doubts in my mind,But that is what I was aski g for eh..
B391
Have a look at a Franchi Affinity. Uses Benelli inertia system [recild spring in foreend] and it shoots very softly, swapped a couple of stands with a friend who has an M2 and we both thought they felt very similar. and the Franchi new is only about £600 plus 7 year Beretta/Benelli/Franchi warranty. Fuddster
I used to shoot a A391 which was a lovely soft recoiling gun but when I had a decent pigeon day and shot 200 shells-the action became sticky with gas residue and prompted misfires. Now I shoot an FAC Benelli M2-I find it gives me a better sight picture with the raised rib and recoil is minimal. The action is stripped monthly and is always clean on the internal working parts. I've never had a jam in over 5000 rounds. It eats all shells of all lengths and loads. But, if you shoot better with the Beretta (could be a new catch phrase) I'd say go for it. If your're on a big day in the field a five minute strip and clean can get in back on line. f.

I've got one here with a bit missing out of it. The new replacement cost 75 quid.

figgy
I love my Benelli M2 and would love to try a Super Sport but dare not in case I like it. Don't need another gun. The franchi does use a type inertia but it's not the exact same as Benelli, I've seen both stripped and the Affinity uses a long spring over the mag tube. B391
Yep, you're right, I was mainly referring to the barrel and bolt assembly.
