fruity
Get a duplex chain conversion done ideally. Have two friends with the same vehicle and they've had chains fail prematurely .
bornfree
We run several of these on the farm so from memory. Timing chain Heater matrix Rear diff Front shock bushes Chassis snapping Rear axle oil seals Propshaft u/j s And if used regularly off road front discs and pads every three months. On the plus side the 190hp ones go really well. Edited November 27, 2017 by bornfree

al4x
Chassis are the big problem, look up snapped chassis group on Facebook, yours is a later but not unaffected age. Get the chassis checked and treated, if affected they are now sending some back to Spain for work rather than scrapping
snow white
There isno problem with the 2012 chassis its the 55/57 year ones that had the problems. I would get a duplex chain put on it as thay are prone to rattle and snap it cost me £1500 for new chain bit expensive but a new engine is going to cost at least £5000 so i would addvise new chain.tony

johnnytheboy
Chassis are rotting on these big time, get it in and checked with Nissan, if it’s ok they maybe have it painted free of charge which is a seriously good idea, the chassis is washed inside and out and painted with epoxy primer upto the rear fuel tank crossmember. Its not just 55-57 plate that are affected as listed above! The older navara asked about above above has a problem with the oil pick up from the sump, it’s 18” long, and causes the engine to explode

But yes they do get a hard life. I was busy in August and had no time to do it so they sent one to Nissan for a service. It came back with a list of repairs that needed doing the estimate was £9650 on a 10 reg truck.

Hands up if you have seen a Spanish bodyshop
al4x
It seems like the worst thought out idea ever but like you i’m Waiting to see how they bodge them. It’s frightening how they are turning to rust and why the newer ones look a bargain

The engines tended to go bang at 60 to 70,000 miles as said above. The way to sort this was to change the err, she'll bearings and the bolts as well. Mine is now at 148,000 miles and going strong. i am amazed with nissans poor attitude to customers and denial of any issues. With this and the chassis issues. When I finally replace mine I don't think it will be with a Nissan. But I'm hoping to get a few more years out of mine yet.
johnnytheboy
I don’t think Nissan have had a poor attitude, they have been paying out to folk with a problem, they are never going to release an official statement, if they did every lawyer in the land would use it against them! They have actually done something about the faulty vehicles and you can’t knock them for that. I’ve seen loads of manufacturers shirk their responsibility in similar situation and drag out a resolution for the vehicle owner.
al4x
Till the vehicles are 12 years old then they are telling owners to stick it.
johnnytheboy
All vehicle manufacturers terminate their obligation at 12 years, that’s not a Nissan thing! As to why they do this at 12 years I do not know but they do.
