walshie
Can someone please recommend a reasonably priced multimeter? I won't be using it a lot but a few times recently I've wished I had one and i haven't. I only really want it for checking batteries and continuity testing. Cheers. Newbie to this
Professionally I would only use Fluke, but if it's just for checking battery voltages etc. try RS' own brand. https://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/test-measurement/multimeters-accessories/digital-multimeters/?applied-dimensions=4293207131 https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/digital-multimeters/1231938/ this one would do Edited February 16, 2018 by Newbie to this

clakk
Use a Fluke myself ,does all but £90 over another for 20 can be a bit ott for casual use.Maplins do a range of low to hi priced and even Wilko,s do a good 1 for about 15 quid
Ricko
An auto-ranging one is quite handy as you don't need to move the selector switch for different voltages etc.
Bigbob
I got a Fluke 12 from the sparkie at work , work gave him a new one so i got his old one for a tenner . Just like you i only wanted it for occasional use the alarm dry cell batteries i get from him , i check to see if there goosed as there only for back up in the event of a power failure . but it got silly i had boxes of them and all my mates got what they wanted and i moved on to lithium

Wb123
I have a few £5 real cheapies lying around that have always worked well so long as the batteries were fresh. That said I have a more expensive one I bought for the dwell meter function which now gets used for everything as the screen is much easier to read. Ricko
I got a UNI-T UT30B off eBay a few months ago as I wanted a meter for using in my outside (dirty/oily) workshop, although not auto-ranging as mentioned in my previous comment, it came with a slightly rugged outer shell that could store the leads. It was about £
