spandit
My Hilux came with a Truckman Luxury Top but the rear glass had partially come unstuck from the surround so thought I'd glue it back in again. Bought some adhesive and bunged a load in. Needed some clamping to make sure it was solid. Glass doesn't like being clamped. Doesn't like it at all. Toughened glass goes "BANG!" when it breaks. haynes
Now even more glue needed. Like a 100,000 piece jigsaw.

haynes
Acrlyic goes horribly white/yellow over time and looks really cheap. Piece of stainless etc might be better. Although not see through.

Could bung some plywood in there for now
Mochastorm
Have you checked with Truckman for a replacement, and more importantly your car insurance. I had similar issue a few years ago with a Land Rover Discovery, the insurance company sorted everything as I had the glass cover. I was directed to the local Autoglass where I paid £40 excess and no penalties for a claim.
stumpy69
When I smashed the glass on my trucktop I claimed it on insurance and think it was £40 and they did it at my work, would probably cost more in time getting a bit of ply or acrylic to fit Edited October 4, 2018 by stumpy69
toads
Hi spandit,My L200 glass exploded few weeks ago.Id had it up for an hour in the sun while working .It def blew up!!.Anyway Ive ended up going down the acrylic route.Toughened glass was in the £150 area acrylic £40. I think it will take a long time before any noticeable discolouring.I had to get clear and will need to drill holes for handles.
spandit
Waiting to see what Truckman say but couldn't see through it anyway from the driver's seat and I've removed all the glass and glue from the fibreglass frame so cutting a bit of acrylic or plywood shouldn't be too much of an issue

It's the luxury hardtop I have, I'm told. It has a light (which doesn't work), a heated rear screen (which doesn't work and is now in granular form) and central locking, which doesn't work either. It also leaks but aside from that it's terrific

millrace
Why not just get your local glazing firm to cut you a piece of 6.4mm laminated glass......cheap safe and what we do with diggers etc.....assuming its a straight piece glass required...... spandit
Ah, you edited before I could respond. No, it's curved unfortunately
GingerCat
Not quite the same but I put acrylic windows in the wife's shed. It's every bit as clear as glass and has been for the last 4 years. Cost pennies compared to glass and easy to work with. Also doesn't break as easy due to a bit of flex in it. Cawdor118
My missus reversed mines in to the garage door smashing the glass and the garage door. Luckily I fixed the garage for free buttie canopy and the closure angle were £294.95 - I had suspected it would be more.
