rimfire4969
Good find. To be honest I always cook with a wine I would want to drink, if it’s not good enough to drink why cook with it?
Walker570
Some excellent drinkable wines at around a fiver. Aldi do BIG bottles of Prosecco for £12 ...£6 a litre and it is brilliant specially with a small shot of plum vodka in the glass first. Most of these wine writers are on a deal anyway. GingerCat
Aldi toro loco for under a fiver. Lovely drinkable wine and on a par with more expensive stuff. They do a reserve as well which is good too.

amateur
I always follow WC Field's maxim "I cook with wine, sometimes I'm even known to add it to the food" I find that Lidl and Aldi do some very drinkable red wines at very reasonable prices
