Seadog1408
I am looking to get a cabinet installed which would accommodate a moderated rifle, now I haven't purchased anything yet but my question is what sort of height/ depth cabinet do you guys use for your scoped/moderated rifles? TIA mike
Dougy
Look for one that is suitable for scopes rifles, most do actually state this in the description. If your after one for 4 rifles buy one for 8. Just don't ask why, you will need a bigger one. Trust just about everyone on here.
HW95J
Got a GDK 6 gun vault-locking safe. The lockable ammo safe at the top is offset to one side so there is room for extra long guns. As a general rule when dealing with scoped guns, or indeed any- take a couple of guns off the advertised capacity. They are never as spacious as promised
wymberley
Is it a good idea to store the rifle with the moderator fitted?

If you remove the mod’ after shooting, as is advisable, you wont need an extra long cabinet.
barbel
never leave a mod on, what I have done is made a shelf just under the ammo box the depth to allow for mods etc.

This is why I enjoy the forum, learn something new every day!!, so best to remove the moderator for storage. that makes choosing a cabinet easier! mike

Not an issue for rimfire as far as I’m concerned, but never leave a centrefire mod on. Either way the brattonsound rl7+ will accommodate with or without. My T3 came supplied with one.

Colster
I take the mods off all of mine after use except the .22LR but that is only because it's only a 16" barrel and is too short to reach the rest without the mod on. It's never had a problem and I do remove it every now and then and give it a good clean

Now with two both mods have to come off. I have some thick plastic slotted into the inside of the door and keep the mods and my mags there. Another way to save space and not have them chucked into the bottom of the safe. I have half moons cut into the plastic for the mods so the plastic bends around them and a bit of pine banged on underneath them so they have something to stand on. Dazza9t9
I have a brattonsound for scoped rifles and I can’t fault it. I would recommend taking the mods off as stated above
