No, I would rather have had another choice than Hunt, but given that is what the parliamentary party have put before me then I will vote on the basis of a broad spectrum of considerations, not just the single issue of Brexit.

Under Hunt, if he does NOT deliver a proper Brexit, then your vote will be wasted, as the Tory Party will collapse. The Brexit Party is here to stay....Hunt is playing with the future of his Parliamentary colleagues, as well as his party,s. I doubt they will be very happy collecting their P45,s.  Boris, and a 31/10 Brexit, is the parties last hope.  Without it, you will get a Corbyn / Marxist government, and as their backers include various anti-fieldsport organisations, you will be able to wave goodbye to future shooting! One of the first things that  Marxist Socialist governments do, is to remove ALL privately held guns!

It gets better, this might hit the news later, but it does go some way to explaining why tensions were high in the Bojo household that night.

Newspaper Journalists.
They all reported the Warboys case on Thursday.
They know the background of the original cases brought.
They prefer to discredit and suggest domestic violence with lies of omission.
Thursday night. I wasn't there, and I don't know the couple... But I can't imagine how stressful Carrie's (BJ s girlfriend) day was.
When Carrie was about 19 years old (2007), she was drugged and abused by John Warboys. She was brave and gave evidence to get him jailed.
John Warboys was almost released on parole.
On Thursday Carrie spent the day listening to the evidence in the new cases against John Warboys that prove he should never have been considered for parole.
If any of us suffer a stressful day like that, want to shout, scream, throw things, get sad, get angry, become hysterical... That sort of stressful day is an understandable trigger.
And her partner comes home happy, having been selected into the final two of achieving his lifetime goals....
A different neighbour, Fatimah said it was loud, but the man's voice was trying to calm her down.
Journalists demand - Why not explain the "none of our business" to the hustings?
Perhaps it's also not for Boris Johnson to comment on the private anger, grief and stress of Carrie Symonds who is not putting herself forward as a politician?

Like I say, they might report this, but if they dont, then you know where the MSM really stands.
And if anyone thinks conspiracies arent real, they need to WAKE UP.

True!

If you start the paragraph .. Under Boris, ...

All still true if he doesn't deliver a proper Brexit too I guess?

Boris Saviour of the World!

It’s a cracking leap, if I don’t vote for BoJo we all lose our guns.

What makes you so convinced Boris is going to be the man of his word?

He proudly boasted he would lie in front of the bulldozers of the Heathrow expansion, then abstained from the vote by skipping the country and his since changed course fully to supporting the expansion.  The reason he abstained was that voting against the government would mean resigning his cabinet post and he wasn’t ready for that as he didn’t have another cause to ride on the back of.

He got his MP seat, after being mayor, on the back of those promises, which was his prize, his focus was 100% self interest.

He has softened his tone markedly already, from “do or die” to “very, very, very unlikely to be no deal” in the space of two days.

Despite the force of his personality BoJo faces all the same challenges as whoever else would get the gig and short of braggadocio he has offered nothing of how he will achieve his aims.

BoJo is at his best when he is the champion of a cause, his oratory is powerful when singing the righteous song.

The big question isn’t really about Hunt or BoJo anybow, it is about the rest of parliament and characters like Dominic Grieve, Ken Clarke and John Bercow.  That is still the problem.

I do think that British politics is going to fracture along very different lines to the past, and maybe it needs to, and despite the hype from Tory party central I do not believe we will ever have a Corbyn majority  government.

The very worst it might get is a coalition of Labour/LibDen/SNP and that would be so bound by bargain making between the players as to be impotent to make any real change.  Would still hate to see it though.

It is quite possible that such a coalition would have little need to rely on LibDems, as Greens and some Irish (Sin Fein would probably take their seats under Corbyn) and so we would have a very powerful left (Labour, SNP annd Green), and very weak moderating influence (LibDem).

Apart from economic catastrophe (inflation, job losses, pound collapse), taxing/abolishing as much private ownership of houses, land, businesses, shares, savings, second homes, buy to lets, preventing gifts to offspring/descendants etc, it is likely we would see the Scots break away, and I think it highly likely that restrictions on field sports and private firearms ownership would come into force.

For fieldsports and firearms, I doubt there would be much sympathy from LibDems anyway.

If there's a hard Brexit will Scotland (or the SNP) agitate for another independence vote, and if the country were to vote again (as part of a UK outside the EU single market, etc), would the result be different from 2014?

It's a genuine question. What would be your guess?

Don't be fooled into thinking the SNP are left wing, they're not.  They are happy to make noises about being socialist, but their policies are not.  The greens have 1 MP and Sinn Fein will never take their seats.

I personally don't believe that Labour would get anything like the number of seats to govern in coalition with the SNP only and i'm not convinced the SNP would get as many seats as to make that viable either.

The rest of your post is catastrophising as well, we really need to move beyond that.

Undoubtably the SNP will agitate for another independence referendum no matter what the outcome, but whilst they are making a lot of noises about it just now I believe that is really to appease the hardliners.  There is little consensus in the party to push hard for it and there are also quite a few cracks starting to show in the SNP.

The public opinion of independence has not really moved in Scotland at all and when it comes to a hard inspection of what the outcome of a referendum might be, especially so if there is a hard brexit that has significant negative impact, the story to be told will be found wanting.  Despite the rhetoric of the SNP for Scotland being pro-euro I don't believe it is powerful as it is made out.

For example if we go down a hard brexit route and there is a challenge around a customs border in Ireland then how do the SNP reconcile that scenario in Scotland where 4 times as much trade is with the UK than it is with the EU?  There is not a positive economic story for an iScotland post a hard brexit and no guarantee of easy accession to the EU either for iScotland.

The voter turn out in the Brexit referendum in Scotland was significantly less than the Indy Ref and a lot of the remain campaigning was also driven by the indy camp, to stoke division.  I can honestly say that up until the statement of SNP being so vehemently pro EU that very few people would be aligning themselves as European citizens.

So in summary, Yes SNP will push hard for another indy ref and no the result wouldn't differ from 2014.  In my opinion of course.

A Lib/Lab coalition would be a disaster for this country, AND for fieldsports! Before you rubbish the claim about Corbyn,s gang banning fieldsports, check out their supporters!  A minority Corbyn government, with assistance from the Green socialists,SNP,  and the Limp / Dumbs, will make it happen!

Remember, people said fox hunting would never be banned, as royalty and the very wealthy would not let it happen..........................and we know what happened there!

For the record, I would prefer someone other than Boris or the  idiot Hunt to lead the Tories, but that is not going to happen. Of the two, I prefer Boris.

I quite agree, not our choice so we have to hope for the lesser of two evils!

It speaks volumes about the state of British politics(and British politicians ), when most of us are hoping for the least bad option.

It really gets on my nerves when people conflate arguments and ascribe assumptions against me.  I never once rubbished any claim about banning field sports, I just said it was a big leap from me saying i'm not going to vote for Boris to us all losing our guns.

I repeat my question of earlier, why do you think Boris is any more trustworthy than Hunt in respect to Brexit given his track record?

Also intrigued why you think Hunt is an idiot?  He is the longest serving health secretary of all time and is generally considered to have been successful in that role, he managed to bring the BMA to heel and is the only health secretary to ever do that, he successfully achieved significant additional funding for the NHS, he introduced the care quality commission which takes a genuine quantitative assessment of care and safety and he also prepared the ground for a development of social care.

It is a hugely disappointing state of affairs, but it feels like it has been that way for a while.

Hunt is an idiot, if he believes that the majority of Leavers will accept his version of Brexit, after all the times he sided with May!  Now he wants to be Prime Minister, he changes his tune......No thanks!  He is playing the same game May played.

Not like they have a choice whether they 'think' about it or not, plenty of people to remind them.

Same as this country, how many slaves did your ancestors have?

Are you ready to pay reparations?

Exactly. Can someone tell me just for how much longer and to what extent I’m supposed to feel guilty for the acts of fellow British ancestors I didn’t even know?

Compared with 4 years ago, the employment figures in the ethnic groups I mentioned are UP!  The economy is UP, stocks are UP, and GDP is UP. What is not to like?  Compared with the 8 dead years of Obama, Trump,s term is a success. You may not like him (I,m pretty sure you don,t, is that political bias?) but his administration vis a vis the economy is a success story.
