mud mat

any ideas about a mat for lying on mud  & shingle my elbow has never been the same when my stabilizer failed because lager was like water of the gods, i thought about a yoga mat but would probably blow away

That’s the conundrum.....anything light will blow away, anything heavy will be a burden to carry! Not tried it myself, but you could try pinning a light mat down with tent pegs/stakes?

it would be laying down.

The folding sitting mats you see in outdoor shops will do. Light and strong enough. Could use more than one.

When my knees were in good condition I would kneel a lot , I would put down a piece of Black builders polyphane to keep the wet or the mud out and a piece of Green canvas on top , both of them would fit in my game bag ( postman's bag ) , if I was sitting on the edge of a drain or you might call them creeks or gullies , I would do the same and put some grass or straw in the game bag to sit on , as I worked for a building firm at the time , all the materials cost next to nothing , or to be more precise ....... nothing

Foam pads are cheap as chips, the insulation makes them better on your joints.

I can kneel no problems, getting back up is the hard part.

old army sleep mat, cut into length to suit you.... last time i bought one, was a fiver for 6 foot or so

I use my old fishing unhooking mat. Pretty lite and comfortable

pints of lager were excellent which is unusual nowadays so filled my boots and when i got off the bus they were disconnected from brain hence falling backwards.

As previously stated unhooking mat for fishing. Korda do an excellent one for around a tenner with a fold out flap to one side.
