steve_b_wales
I'm looking at replacing my old computer. I don't need anything fancy, as I don't intend uploading films etc. Pricewise, something in the region between £250 - £350 Any suggestions? PLAGUE
Steve your best bet for that kind of money is to build it yourself - not hard every thing is plug and play.

Never tried, but not beyond my capabilities I suppose. I have got a good mate who is excellent with this sort of thing, so could ask him. old'un
I would also go the self build route, I have always built my own and you get higher spec for you money. Also don't pay the full price for your OS, you can get a legit copy of win10 for around £10. edit to add this. just to point out, AMD based computers are generally cheaper than Intel based computers. Just looked at the Zoostorm computers (TIGHTCHOKE) and they look good value for money, get one without OS as they are charging £90 for win10 home, you can get it for a £10, I can give you the link if you need it. discobob
At the moment I would say that Intel based systems for general use are your best bet. From what you say an i3 based system. I know from previous posts that you already have a PC - how old is it - I am just thinking along the lines of reusing components towards a new build like the case and the PSU. There is a bit of a vacuum going on in the PC world now with lots of new products being released which unlike previous years which has caused a drop in prices of older versions has had the opposite effect on mid to high end components - The Ryzen 3600 actually increased in price by £100 above its base price early in the year of £140 and has actually been out of stock at a lot of places. The i3 10 series is at a good price now though (Intel haven't released their new chips yet), with a board and memory utilizing your existing case and PSU and sticking with the on chip graphics card (or reusing your existing one if yours has a graphics card) could keep the costs down. Or you could go for something like this https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lenovo-m900-sff-pc-i5-6500-32ghz-4gb-500gb-win-10-3614054 bit low on the memory though - you could also see what is on offer on DELL outlet Its a shame you are not close as I am about to throw one of our old ones onto marketplace to flog off as it is just taking up space. Even cheapo laptops are far better now than they used to be. Really, at the kind of money you're talking about spending, I can't see what benefit a desktop would bring. You can connect a proper keyboard and second screen to one, if that's your concern. Yes you can create a 'project' for yourself by assembling a desktop, but to what end? I have a PC on standby for when it is terminal and no hinge to fail, and I can get a whole keyboard cheap enough, stick your letter r up your ase!
