Westley Posted June 8, 2022 Report Share Posted June 8, 2022 Just a shame they stopped making the 2.2 diesel, in my humble opinion, the best car they ever made. I wish I had spent £1000 on a new turbo rather than changed it for the current 1.5 petrol model. Yes, it is a nice enough car to drive, but it is slower and most certainly thirstier than the diesel. I have, best car I've ever had, bought it brand new in May2009 It' not even blown a bulb yet, other than routine servicing which I have done myself since new, I can get 50Mpg on a run, don't know what I'd replace it with. I could get 54mpg on a motorway run, keeping speed around 65mph. It would drop a bit doing 70/80 mph. Best I have had on a run from the 1.5 petrol is 34mpg. On a run to work it can do 55-57mpg sticking to the speed limit and no harsh acceleration. Should I put my foot down (I do occcasionally) it does 35. Very enjoyable. Had mine for nearly five years and still very reliable , go just about anywhere and now done about 140K , I am now thinking about getting a slightly smaller motor so my wife can get in and out a bit more easier , at the moment only thinking and done very little about changing it as I like mine and if it aint broke then there is no need to mend it , I dearly if I could afford it is to get a decent motor for normal runs out and keep the CRV for for crossing the fields with my dog and shooting gear in the back , but with everything going up and up I will have to wait and see what crop up . The old London black taxis when they had the Nissan engine would often do a million miles when operated by the hire fleets. They were doubled, that is to say operated 24 hours a day in two shifts of twelve hours, seven days a week. The engines never went wrong, change the oil regularly and they would last forever.
