old'un
Yep, gun owners are easy targets for the police and those who wish to see guns removed from public ownership.

miki
Police Scotland FLD was pushing for an increase in the fee when Chief Inspector Fraser (Freedom) Lamb was in charge. He was all for not having the Police shoulder the cost which his department identified as being in the £500 range. As Scotland decends into madness and cosies up closer to the (anti shooting) Green Party there is a distibct posibility that this may gain traction. There is no real information available, why did Finlay MacDonald stab his wife and then murder his sisters husband (after shooting her in the face) ? It's not the gun its the person behind the trigger. The FLD wastes a huge amount of money on maintaining an over complex licensing system (think moderators for example). Knives (sharp impliments) are the most commonly used weapon in murder, the second is by 'kicking or hitting'. Strangulation is in there and then with a 2% to 8% fluctuation shooting .... and that's down by 43% since the 1960's Hopefully the 'parlimentary committee' members will be made aware of these facts and will divert funds and efforts into matters that help the general populace rather than punish a minority. https://www.gov.scot/publications/homicide-scotland-2021-22/pages/2/ https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/articles/homicideinenglandandwales/yearendingmarch2021

mossy835
if we have to pay that, a lot will drop out of shooting.
