"kelly's eye".............remember that story line ?

Sadly, yes. He got it from the neck, or the belly button, of some sort of god statue in the jungle of some jungle somewhere. And then wore it around his own neck. Where sometimes it fell off and he lost the powers it gave him when he wore it.

Memories , of travelling from nannie's house in Southampton, to out house in Leigh Park Havant, listening  in the back of my dads

Vauxhall Victor.   My brother and i used to count the German boats and small ships that were beached to be scrapped on the mudflats near Gosport.

Every week there were one or two less.

The Cliff Mitchelmore singers , i think ?  OMG , just thought of 'Listen with Mother' ,and Four Feather falls.

Tell yer what , you boys certainly listened to a lot of radio and watched a fair bit of the early t v programes , didn't you ever go out when the weather was nice ? , a bit like the kids of today  , except in those far off days you didn't have a mobile glued into your ear drums .

Our first little tele was a 14 inch and we never went to bed until the dot that was left on the box when it was turned off finally went off . I can't remember a lot of the early programes but a bit later I enjoyed the ole country programes like Dicx Joyce who done Farming Diary , Colin Willock  Survival and the Jack Hargreves ones Out Of Town .

Comics were the Beano and Dandy and my mate gave me the Eagle once he had read it , these went by the wayside when we started to explore the great outdoors , me and my brother bought our first gun punt when I was 14 and I started to buy the Shooting Times when I started work at 15 for the pricely sum of 1 / 3d about 7 1/2 pence in todays money .

Maybe Ditchie can remember Fyfe Robertson who was a reporter on the early About Anglia programes in the late 1960s , to us he sounded as if he came from the other side of the world and I believe he came from Scotland , which to to be honest was the other side of the world :drinks:

I remember sing something simple, simply awful. Then about 1975 i acquired an old Pye transistor radio & flicking round the dial one night under the bedclothes i found Radio Caroline,  & the first song i heard was Led Zepellins Kashmir, It was the Tom Anderson show & i was absolutely blown away. Best Dj of all time.  I still listen to Caroline today.

On a 9volt tranny listerning to Radio Luxembourg, fading in and out.

Not sure what the radio was that I was listerning on but I used to stay up on a Sunday night to listen to the top 20 on radio Luxembourg , seem to take ages waiting for the number one which was normally the Stones or the Beatles :drinks:

P S   Just looked it up and in 1963 it was the Beatles , I Want To Hold Your Hands
